ア ル リ シ ャ ー
ALRISHA
THE FROZEN SCYTHE | 氷結の鎌
AN UNTOLD TALE

One could say her mothers were Alkaid and Electra. Together, the two mechanics had created Alrisha and her “sister”, Alfirk. Alkaid was older by only a few seconds. She had booted first. Her first memories were of running test of her own systems, making sure everything was working well. If not, it would have been an automatic restart, a clearing of her files. Thankfully, that didn't have to happen. Alrisha was perfect according to her creators. Even though her systems were different than the first two weapons, she was running smoothly. Her movements were natural looking, her voice perfect to the ears, but everyone knew she was not really alive. The markings she bore on her head were enough evidence to that. Her “sister” had the same general look about her, making them both appear as the machines they were. As weapons. Not even an hour into her time on the planet and Alrisha proved her worth to her creators, to her clan. Their look as weapons were obvious to the enemies they were sent after, and Alrisha struck them down quickly and efficiently, her “sister” guarding her from other attacks, the tougher metal coating of the other weapon being more effective in taking hits than receiving them.

This first battle had earned Alrisha the title of “The Frozen Scythe”. Her attacks were carefully calculated using the complex systems she had running in her head. She knew where to strike on anyone. Be they dragon or beast. Her movements were fast, smooth. There was no following her in battle, not when she performed her dance. Her creators and those that gave her the orders never called it a dance, but Alrisha did. It was the only real thing she had within her that was personal. She danced when she fought. And her “sister” provided her with the support to keep the dance going. One could say she is more efficient than the first two weapons the clan made. While this statement might be seen as an insult to the original weapons, it is true. Alrisha only feels pride for her work, all other emotions being lost. She has no likes, no dislikes, only the sense that she has to prove that her creators are goddesses in their own right. Therefore, she works hard. When she is sent out to battle, it becomes personal. Sadly, her “sister” doesn't share the same ideals, and sometimes Alrisha wonders if the first two weapons even have ideals. Anything to make them do their jobs better.

The answer is that she doesn't know. And Alrisha doesn't want to know. All she wants is to be left to her own devices, going into battle with Alfirk when the other weapon isn't needed to protect the clan. Everything else is just a bother... yet even with her strange ideals and her pride, Alrisha doesn't show anything to anyone. Her face remains deadpan, her eyes stare straight ahead. Even when in battle. It has been called creepy to look at a dragon covered in wounds and blood and have them not react. To stare death in the face and not even blink. Yet that is the life of a weapon, and for a weapon like Alrisha, the ice magic that had been embedded in her has caused her to be frozen. Yet, instead of being frozen on the inside like some, she is stuck on the outside, unable to show how she “feels”.

When she is placed inside the holding area to be watched, she stays still. She doesn't talk, doesn't move, not until she is given orders by those she is told to follow. Her whole world is centered around what she is told to do. There is nothing that can make her change this. She strongly believes that her only purpose is to do as she has been told... and she isn't wrong. Yet the weapon's keeper has tried to get her to react. Every day, with constant questions and pestering. He has better luck with Alrisha's “sister” than with the deadpan unfeeling scythe. Alrisha prefers to watch the others, to see them move around and talk among themselves. The way the scythe sees it, she's the most mature out of the weapons and the strongest. Yet her pride might one day be her downfall.
