______ He lived a quiet life. Most dragons who met him were terrified of the way his eyes betrayed his duality of nature — kindness and predatory hunger, mixed into one. It was unnatural, but so was he. He was a vampire, cursed to live in a wasteland on his own for fear of his own hunger betraying him and turning him into a beast. His own diet was disgusting- he survived, if one could even call it that, on the passing dragons who were doomed to death anyways from the contagion that had overwhelmed them. He put them out of their misery with his herbs and then drained their bodies, though each time he did it he felt weaker.

______ He couldn't help but feel a twinge of excitement when he saw a new dragon passing through his territory- a wildclaw, in the prime of her life, with brilliant soft green eyes and a happy, glowing smile. Something about her felt so alive in this sickly and dead place that he couldn't help but stare, a slight smile on her face, as she left - happy, healthy, with no need for them to ever interact. That was until the contagion rose up and grabbed her from behind, and her humming turned into screams in an instant as it climbed across her body with terrifying speed. He was frozen for a moment until he realized her plight and leaped into action, rushing forward to save her from the fate he had seen befall far too many others before her. If he didn't act quickly, she would just be another sad meal.

______ When he reached her she had already managed to pull away the infection but she was panicked and terrified, and as he called out to her to help calm her she lashed out in a frenzy, her claws connecting with his face and causing him to snarl in pain. He helped her to her feet as she went into shock, going limp and as heavy as a corpse in her arms. Blood flowed from the cut on his face as he dragged her to his home, his own heart thumping with fear in his chest. He hoped it wasn't already too late.

______ She was beautiful. The contagion that had recently rotted her face was less so, but there was something about the way she looked — eyes dull with pain, but her soul bright and untainted — that set his heart, and more shamefully, his hunger, ablaze. She was wounded in more ways than one, and he worried that without healing, her eyes would never regain that spark of life that he saw within her when he first spotted her walking through the wasteland.
______ He was taking a risk by letting her into his home, and knew his resolve would be fully tested during her stay, but he couldn't seem to resist her pull. When he looked into her face he felt a strange pull to protect her, contrasting with the desire to feed that constantly weighed on his mind. It was magnetic, and he allowed himself to be drawn in as he carried her home, despite the voice that whispered to him of the danger he posed to her.

______ Healing her was tedious. She fought him at every turn, bitter over the loss of her face and eye and angry at the world because of what she had been through. She took it out on him, though he was patient, and never reacted. He could tell that the contagion had touched her within- her soul had been hurt as well, and if he couldn't heal her soon, it would consume it, turning her into something worse than just an irritable wildclaw. He worked tirelessly despite her protests. He refused to let her succumb- he couldn't bear the thought of losing yet another dragon to the perils of the wastes.

B I O G R A P H Y

______ Fear was overwhelming him at the sight of her deteriorating condition. She had no idea that the contagion was still within her, destroying her soul and eating away at her life. He knew the only way to rid her of it was to get her to fight it herself, but she was so melancholy that all she did was lay around, practically inviting it to kill her. He knew he had to do something. Without considering it further, he strode up to her, allowing his intimidating side to shine through. It was the only way to force her to listen. "We're going on a walk." He commanded, and he felt guilt twist his stomach as she obeyed, fear glinting within her eyes before she ducked her head and looked away. He didn't know what to say as he led her out of his hut and through the forest, and when they finally arrived at the river, he flinched when she hissed at the sight of herself.

______ He let the words rush from his mouth as they reached the river. He told her of his true nature, about what he saw in her, and how much he loved her. What he didn't expect was for her to break down and tell him the same- she loved him too, despite the way she'd acted towards him. It was the happiest he'd ever felt. She didn't care about his appearance, or the fact he was a vampire. She loved him for who he was.

______ Onyx convinced him to join a clan with her so that they'd be safer within the wasteland. The clan eventually relocated to the sunbeam ruins, and he learned how to drink from others without killing them. He volunteers his services as a healer in exchange for a meal from his clanmates or passing strangers, and while he's still seen as intimidating to many, he has a great deal more friends than he ever did as a solitary vampire living in a hut on his own. He still works with Onyx to purge the remaining contagion from her system, and though he worries she'll never be the same happy dragon she once was, he loves her for who she is. They're happy together despite their strange conditions, and that's enough for him.

'As for Marcus, I purposely actually made his reflection a lot shadowy-er, because of the vampire myth! :>> I made him look all serious and sharp and intimidating, but if you would see, his eyes are extremely bright and detailed. Hope it's alright, i tried to capture the two personalities!'
