Triton is unequivocally one of the most bonkers dragons you will ever meet. Often believing himself to be an embodiment of the Greek sea god of which he is named after, Triton finds it difficult to distinguish between real life and the fantasy realm residing in his head alone. Imploring the help of Pontus, his faithful bubble nymph and impostor in his own right, Triton spends his days and nights desperately trying to learn the ways of the water. His goal you might ask? One can never be quite sure... Some days he can be seen trying to control the waves upon the shore side, other days he will be gone for hours below the surface looking at all the treasures the sea has to offer. Truth be told not even Triton is sure what he's trying to achieve. He’s not that crazy, really. Just… A little bit off, driven by discovery and everything else. In his opinion, discovery is important above all else. Maybe it is. Who knows really? More discoveries mean more knowledge, and more of that means power and control. Control over dragons, control over who knows what and who knows who. Triton believes that knowledge is everything. Many deem him crazy because of this, but a few actually think the same way as he does, they’re just less… Vocal about it. Others disagree strongly, some are neutral and just think he’s crazy. They’re right to, really. He is crazy, just not in the way people would think.

He’s so crazy he doesn’t realise how many things he’s right about, how many things he knows that other’s don’t. He’s crazy enough that he doesn’t even realise that he’s smart, which is sad, if you think about. No one knows what really drove him to insanity, but many believe that it was his ongoing quest for knowledge. But only one knows of his deepest secret, his need to be crazy, his want. And they’re not going to tell it. His quest for knowledge is never going to stop, never going to end. They all know that, really. But what they don’t know, what they don’t know is too much. He doesn’t even know why he is this hungry for knowledge, he doesn’t know why he’s crazy. He merely just… Is, no questions asked. But, then again, aren’t we all? He may be crazy, mad, with no reasons behind it, but there’s always that one person in all of our lives that is like that, too. Maybe he isn’t as crazy as he thinks, as we all think. He’s just hungry to find something more. And Triton has the feeling that he’s getting closer and closer every day he digs deeper. And, maybe, for once in his life, he’s right about something finally. Of course, he’s been right about things in the past, but those are small things that go nearly unnoticed, like being right about how the wind catches in a dragon’s wings. But this new one is a big discovery, something no one has noticed, or looked for, or wondered about before. Even he has never wondered about this one thing. That’s because it is thought to not exist anymore, and Triton is smart enough not to waste his time on thinking about something that isn’t real.

But the dragons who said it wasn’t real are in for a wild ride, because he’s just going to get crazier from here on out, until he can’t take in all the things he’s found, until he’s too happy with everything and ends up exploding. Not that that’s possible, of course. If fact, the whole clan is in for a wild ride. The whole world is, because what he’s going to find is just going to make him crazier and more hungry, hungrier for the wrong things. Once he finds it, his desire will no longer be knowledge, but power, riches, and fame. All of those things can break a dragon, break them so much that they would be beyond saving. They will become bloodthirsty. And that’s why they have to stop him from finding it. Finding the essence, the essence that can destroy all. The essence of darkness.
