ABOUT. Swift, impatient Aeolus doesn't stop for anyone. More electricity than flesh and bone, he's one of the first spirits to call the Clan of Rattling Bone his home and works as its postal service's fastest courier. When he isn't out for delivery, he's either sleeping or zipping around in the wiring that spans the entire lair -- a fun way of getting around and he can spot potential problems that the engineers miss. His existence has brought nothing but good for the clan, and although his contract with Metis (made in his early days) has expired, he likes the bonds he has made here. One more thing tethers him to the clan -- the standard. Maintained personally by Prometheus once a week, it keeps him anchored to a physical form and prevents him from dissipating entirely. He didn't need it in his youth, but as he matured and his magic grew, it became clear that he needed a channel, a conduit for his form. Not a very reassuring existence, but he's still in one piece. For now. And despite that threat hanging over him like an executioner's blade, Aeolus can't say he's particularly worried. There are places to visit and dragons to meet, after all. It's wouldn't be much of a life if he never stopped thinking about death. IMPRESSIONS. A little tricky to perceive him directly. Flickers and flashes like lightning, and his form is somewhat insubstantial. Touching him is like touching a particularly dense cloud -- this is highly inadvisable. Has a tendency to discharge small electrical bursts when dragons stand next to him, like a static shock but much more painful. This has been somewhat mitigated by the orbs, invented by Miles, that float around him which absorb the energy and deflect it back to him. PAST. First trapped by Metis when it was discovered that something was siphoning the energy from the early generators (long before Euthenia and Kydoimos came along). She struck a deal with him -- power and shelter for service. 'Deal' is ... generous. It'd be more accurate to say that she trapped him for three years, during which Aeolus made repeated escape attempts and engaged in some malicious compliance. Metis was forced to cut the deal short, and the two eventually came to a compromise. As it turned out, the postal service was just starting out, and Proioxis needed new couriers. Aelous rocketed to the top as the fastest, putting the Clan of Rattling Bone on the map. FRIENDS. Amphitrite: Wife. Lives in a sister clan, and the two write frequently. Currently on a bit of a break; Aeolus thinks of her every day. Proioxis: Boss. Probably one of the few he listens to without growing impatient and zipping off, and it's partly because Proioxis talks fast. Overture: Friend. Overture likes to visit Aeolus when he sleeps (which is infrequently), and enjoys the lightning storms that he dreams of.
