The Sky Leopards are a clan of nomadic dragons that hold strong ties to the power of the sky above them, and each member has an affiliation to a particular time of day or weather pattern dependant on the colour of their fur or scales. These dragons are keenly tuned the world above them, to the extent that they can harness an incredible power from it, and can use this power to predict natural disasters, locate missing creatures, and navigate safely through inhospitable terrain. Sky Leopards long to wander far across the world, exploring every last region of the sky they revere, and training to better harness its power.
LORE
A roaming pack of Snow Leopards ventured deep into the Cloudscrap Crags to find a new hunting ground, away from rival packs and sheltered from the summer warmth. There, they found a home in a valley close to the mountain peaks, where the sky seemed close enough to touch. For many years, the pack lived there peacefully and happily, and the Snow Leopards thrived, but one young dragon wanted nothing but to leave it behind.
Longclaw was born in the midst of a brutal winter blizzard - he entered the world with the wind roaring outside his mother's den, sleet pelting the ground beyond its safety, and the rage of the sky above threatening to destroy the world as soon as he had entered it. Even from that very first day, Longclaw had an intense fascination with the sky and the way that it could change, and began to imagine that the sky itself had a life and personality all its own. He believed that changes in the weather were like changing emotions: storms of anger, joyous sunlight, peaceful night, thoughtful clouds. Cloudy days, in particular, he was fascinated by, and when the skies were at their greyest, Longclaw was at his brightest.
As he grew, so did his interest in the sky, and one day, when a grey sleep had fallen across the world, Longclaw set out into the mountains around his home, hoping to reach the highest peak he could in an effort to reach out and touch the sky that seemed to hover just above it. The journey was difficult and took him a number of days, during which he faced a vicious snowstorm and treacherous terrain, but eventually, wind-tossed and exhausted, he reached the summit. There, the skies cleared, and Longclaw felt a surge of power wash through him, the light carving runes across his silver fur and gifting him an energy he'd never felt before.
This new power connected his strength to the sky above him, waxing and waning with the weather's fluctuations, and granting him a new insight into the vast beauty of the world above the one he walked. With his new strength, Longclaw set out to explore the many wondrous skies that stretched across the world and soon began to forge a pack of his own, which he named the Sky Leopards. He hopes that the members of his pack will continue to journey to the far corners of the world, exploring and drawing power from the many shades, patterns, and colours of the sky, and training to enhance and perfect the new powers that the sky has granted them.
Founding Dragon: Longclaw
A Snow Leopard born amongst the jagged peaks of the Cloudscrape Crags, Longclaw had always admired the beauty and vastness of the sky above him, almost close enough to touch. Its endless expanse and the strength it gave him drove him to stray from his home and establish a new clan: the Sky Leopards.
As a grey Sky Leopard, Longclaw loves rainy days. While others may find them dull and miserable, Longclaw finds a unique sort of beauty in them, and loves nothing more than the sound of rainfall on trees and rocks. It's not uncommon, while other Sky Leopards hunker down in their caverns, to spot Longclaw wandering happily through the rain with a spring in his step. To mark his departure from the Snow Leopards, he had runes imprinted into his fur that symbolised the power of the sky.
Rules
- Sky Leopards can be any breed, but must have Jaguar, Falcon, or Savannah as their primary gene (Jaguar is preferred).
They can have any secondary gene, but the most sought after are Rosette, Striation, Safari, Peregrine, Trail, Bee, Shimmer, Facet, and Alloy.
They can have any tertiary gene (an explanation as to why they have a certain gene - such as having Runes to symbolise the power of the sky - is a great way to add to the lore!). Most Sky Leopards should have Runes but all other genes are accepted.
- Sky Leopards can be a range of different colours as listed below. Generally, Sky Leopards are expected to have Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary colours that are similar (eg: three blue-spec colours or three purple-spec colours), unless they are Zenith Sky Leopards, which have White as their Secondary and Tertiary colour.
- Eyes can be from any flight!
- A dragon can only be a registered Sky Leopard if ONE parent is also a registered Sky Leopard and they meet the gene and colour requirements outlined in the rules below. A Sky Leopard can only be registered once it has been trained to level 5. A Sky Leopard that has not reached level 5 is still classified as a Sky Leopard, but cannot be added to the registry list.
- As the project is finding its feet, I would prefer that Sky Leopards are not exalted! To avoid dragons being picked up as exalt fodder, Sky Leopards I breed have an 8kt or 8g adoption fee - this may increase during dominance battles. It is ultimately up to the dragon's seller to determine what happens to it or how much (or little) they can be adopted for. Sky Leopards for adoption can be advertised on this thread and listed in the Adoption section of the thread, just don't spam sales posts please!
- A Sky Leopard's colour determines what type of Sky Leopard they are: Cloudy Skies, Sunny Skies, Stormy Skies, Night Skies, or Twilight Skies. The colour specifications for each type are listed below:

ZENITH SKY LEOPARDS
Zenith Sky Leopards are even more deeply attuned to the power of the sky than others. They often have natural leadership ability and a strong drive to watch over and protect others. All Zenith Sky Leopards must undergo a trial of sorts: they must climb the highest peak they can find, and upon reaching the summit, will be granted the ability to partially control the weather when needed (eg: easing a storm or clouding over a bright sun). All other Sky Leopards are descended from Zenith Sky Leopards.
