If you want to start your own nursing home or an exalt rescue, you're 100% welcome to! The more the merrier! Then, we can affiliate!

How do I go about listing my dragons here? How do I send to a foster?
If you have old dragons you found while leveling fodder, or are trying to make room in your lair, please go to our
Foster Home section and utilize our Fosters pinglist.
If you are selling within the Old Oaks forum and server, the most basic pricing is 10g/kt per year (ex. A 4 year old dragon would go for 40g/kt). You can ask for an equivalent in fodder. (ex. 5 year old can be exchanged for 5 fodder dragons).

** Buying dragons in order to flip (resell for more expensive prices) is frowned upon and NOT within the spirit of Old Oaks. If you are buying dragons within Old Oaks merely with the intention of flipping them, this is considered taking advantage of the community and our services. Doing so will get you banned from Old Oaks server and we will ask that you do not use our thread henceforth. Please do not ruin someone’s FR experience. **

What makes a dragon valuable and how does that affect pricing?
Valuable dragons are oldies that have
rare eye colors (ex. earth), art or lore attached in their bio, are gen 1's, have levels or coliseum stones (especially eliminate stones), or have 7 or less digits in their ID number. We caution rescuers about putting these dragons up on the auction house as they are likely to get bought and flipped.
Please do not buy "valuable" dragons to relist them on the auction house at a higher price. The whole point of this thread is to find them loving homes, not to provide a list of cheap market assets for you to invest in. If it turns out many people are doing that, we will be forced to change our system and rules, which will make rehoming incredibly harder in the future for many oldies.

If I have a valuable dragon I wish to rehome, but I don’t know if OO will be the right place for me to use. What can I do?
That’s totally fine!! Old Oaks isn’t meant to be a catch-all place for oldies, we are merely one of many dragon exalt rescues (just focused on older dragons).
You are welcome to post here with help for pricing your older dragon. If it turns out the price for selling within OO isn’t to your liking, then you are free to sell/rehome your dragon using other means such as your own thread.
If your dragon is of mid 7-digits and below, we highly recommend checking out
ODCA instead! This group specializes in the selling of older and valuable dragons through a collectors stand-point, which is not what we do.

Why are Earth oldies considered more valuable? Why should I reconsider listing Earth oldies at Old Oaks pricing on the Auction House?
Earth has been the smallest flight for basically all of Flight Rising's history as a site, for a number of reasons; this means that there are fewer Earth dragons than basically any other flight, which then means there are accordingly fewer Earth oldies than any other element. As of last check (10/17/21), there have been ~2,600,000 Earth element dragons on Flight Rising, ~530,000 of which are unexalted/active. The next smallest flights, Fire and Water, have 4,000,000 total (~880,000 active) and ~4,700,000 total (~960,000 active) respectively. If you list them on the Auction House for the standard Old Oaks pricing, it is very likely that they will be bought and flipped for a much higher price.

What happens if I fall out of love with a dragon I rescued through Old Oaks or another similar oldies rescue thread?
If you change your mind later about a dragon you bought or rescued elsewhere, then you are free to come and utilize the thread/Discord server to try to rehome them! Alternatively, you can try asking our foster homes if any are able to take them in. As a last resort, know that @
GalopaWXY will always take oldies you need out of your lair asap!

Someone bought and exalted one of my oldies – why?
Unfortunately, we can't rescue them all. There are a number of reasons people exalt oldies – maybe they bought them for a project, only to find a better candidate or for them to be too closely related; maybe they want a certain dragon's colors to be more rare among active dragons; maybe they were exalting at a loss for a dom battle; or maybe they just changed their mind after buying and they don't want to deal with the hassle of reselling them.
All we can say is, you did your best to find them a new, appreciative home and you shouldn't feel bad if some do wind up exalted.

Exalting is a mechanic of FR and we do not forbid nor look down at it. You will not be banned from our community for having ever exalted an oldie.
Unless you are purposely taking advantage of our community’s kindness to gain cheap/free exalt fodder, then we will not care what you do with your dragons.

So like, I sniped up TigerStone back in 2021, when I noticed his age, and at first, I didn't really mean to keep him, so I threw him on the Old Oaks thread alongside another dragon of a similar age to see if anyone wanted him. Nobody bought him for a while, even after the other one sold, and I just... really didn't want to exalt him. I couldn't tell you why at the time, but something about him really spoke to me, and when WvE started, I took him off the AH because I just didn't want anyone exalting him, and I decided to keep him. I didn't know what I'd do with him back then, but I would keep him. Then, I realized he basically had the perfect qualities to become a Nexus Agent in my Nexus City tab, and just like that, he received his role, and became a spoiled boy who got some pretty gem apparel shades to complete the "look".[/quote]

When I think of our beautiful little community and how important its message and cause is, I think of Thrasos. I adopted his mate, Aletheia, first and quickly noticed her long offspring list. Going through her list my heart softened to see that, not only had she been mated to the same dragon for 4 years, but also that their offspring had their own special personalities and outfits put together by their respective owners. It got me thinking, really thinking, about the legacy that old dragons leave, and how it was so easy for pairs to be separated, how easily that legacy can end. They were no exception, having been separated at some point. But seeing that Thrasos was still around in a fellow OO member's tab gave me the courage to hesitantly ask about, and adopt, him. I will never forget the kindness and giving nature of this community that has let me reunite the two. The fact that there are others on this site who appreciate keeping old dragon families together, that they're willing to entertain a stranger's request touched me deeply, and it's become something I strive to continue doing as a foster home myself. While we all have our own reasons for rescuing and rehoming, one thing we all have in common is making sure old dragons can move on to a home that's ready and waiting for them. Because there is one! this is Seabird, she is probably my favorite dragon that I have purchased through old oaks. She was clearly very well loved in the past, as she's almost 8 years old, was level 25, and had been breed changed to a gaoler and fully gened, but one of my favorite things about her is that, for some reason, she has two eliminates. She is, of course, one of the stars of my coliseum team because of this. She is absolutely the rarest/most valuable dragon in my clan, and I would never have been able to afford her without the generosity of the Old Oaks member that sold her to me. I ended up breed changing her to an aberration and geneing her, and i'm on the preorder list for the perfect skin for her.
i treasure her dearly and her colors remind me of a tropical fruit, maybe a papaya- I collect dragons that look like fruit, so she's perfect for my lair. She's always spreading gossip, but everyone's far too afraid of her to say anything about it. She was the first dragon I got off the Old Oaks thread after my discovery of oldies. I remember seeing her and just being amazed at how pretty she was, especially how well her genes and colors worked together so well. She reminded me of a calm watery landscape. I originally was considering renaming her to something water related, but when I looked up her name out of curiosity, turns out it means "forest, strength" or "mountain of strength", and I thought it also fit her so well. Though she has no lore written, to me she is like a pillar of strength and of gentle heart, caring for those around her and for younger dragons to seek out for comfort and advice. Funny enough, I later on ended up finding an older distant family member of hers right on Old Oaks as well (they even look similar), and who I adopted just so they could be together.[/quote]

From the moment I first read her name, I knew SkippingStone was coming home with me. They came with a little bit of lore and an outfit design, which helped me finish them right up to fit in my clan. I think he's really cool! He fits in perfectly with the dragons in The Hollow (it's a sort of sub-clan for my main clan.) He's already friends! Pollen has a lot in common with Jormag, so I know those 2 will get along swimmingly [Ridgeback Happy] It's almost too bad Pollen already has a mate, her and Jormag could be quite perfect for each other otherwise.

Arcadia has found a new home with me! She had nice colors, but with her unattractive tertiary, it seemed that she was destined to end up as someone’s fodder. But when I saw her, I decided that with a little makeover, she would never be someone’s fodder again. I removed her tertiary for now and added some apparel that matched her colors. Once I save up some money, I’d like to regene her entirely. She will soon be entering the main ranks of my clan, where she will take her role as a ranger and protecter of the wilderness. As one of the oldest dragons in the clan, she will help educate the youth on the importance of protecting the environment around her. I’m glad she’s found herself a home here, and I hope that the other dragons can find shelter as well.[/quote]

The twins have fit in perfectly with my clan, and have both been spoiled rotten in terms of their apparel. The two of them are close and perfectly synchronized with one another in how they move and act, enjoying the harmless effects their antics have on others. They even dress exactly alike, save for one difference, and like to see others try to spot that difference. The two of them also mildly irritate the queen, whose mind is a bit boggled by having two pairs of twins in the clan that are perfectly synchronized...but at least she can tell Strient and Qune apart on account of their tertiaries.

I have quite a few old babies in my clan, I've fallen in love with wildclaws and just had to adopt this unnamed beauty
I've named him Dulais and saved up to change his smoke tert to my favorite, capsule tert.
I think he's a very handsome boy and its a shame he hasnt had any babies yet so I plan to make him a little family of his own. I usually breed with a friend I have in the light flight so he might move from a couple of dens but I'm sure he'll enjoy the company of his extended family over there. When I think of our beautiful little community and how important its message and cause is, I think of Thrasos. I adopted his mate, Aletheia, first and quickly noticed her long offspring list. Going through her list my heart softened to see that, not only had she been mated to the same dragon for 4 years, but also that their offspring had their own special personalities and outfits put together by their respective owners. It got me thinking, really thinking, about the legacy that old dragons leave, and how it was so easy for pairs to be separated, how easily that legacy can end. They were no exception, having been separated at some point. But seeing that Thrasos was still around in a fellow OO member's tab gave me the courage to hesitantly ask about, and adopt, him. I will never forget the kindness and giving nature of this community that has let me reunite the two. The fact that there are others on this site who appreciate keeping old dragon families together, that they're willing to entertain a stranger's request touched me deeply, and it's become something I strive to continue doing as a foster home myself. While we all have our own reasons for rescuing and rehoming, one thing we all have in common is making sure old dragons can move on to a home that's ready and waiting for them. Because there is one!

this is Seabird, she is probably my favorite dragon that I have purchased through old oaks. She was clearly very well loved in the past, as she's almost 8 years old, was level 25, and had been breed changed to a gaoler and fully gened, but one of my favorite things about her is that, for some reason, she has two eliminates. She is, of course, one of the stars of my coliseum team because of this. She is absolutely the rarest/most valuable dragon in my clan, and I would never have been able to afford her without the generosity of the Old Oaks member that sold her to me. I ended up breed changing her to an aberration and geneing her, and i'm on the preorder list for the perfect skin for her.
i treasure her dearly and her colors remind me of a tropical fruit, maybe a papaya- I collect dragons that look like fruit, so she's perfect for my lair. She's always spreading gossip, but everyone's far too afraid of her to say anything about it. She's a bit of a diva, and wants to be front and center whenever possible, so I thought I'd submit this testimonial on her behalf. ;)

So I only needed her for my breeding project, right? Well, she must've heard that or something, because she absolutely knocked it out of the park on the first try! Seeing what good lil' derg she is, I decided that I don't have the heart to just sell her back like some breeding fodder, so she stays with me after all! Yay :D I gave her a new name (she is now called Kundegunde, as that's the most granny name I could think of), clothes, lore, and a gene plan (the two last ones are in her bio is someone wants to take a look~). She's now zipping around Sornieth in search of adventure while giving her poor young escort constant migraines by getting herself in trouble all the time XD She might also be someone important, but nobody really knows... All in all, a fun old lady!

I have quite a few old babies in my clan, I've fallen in love with wildclaws and just had to adopt this unnamed beauty
I've named him Dulais and saved up to change his smoke tert to my favorite, capsule tert.
I think he's a very handsome boy and its a shame he hasnt had any babies yet so I plan to make him a little family of his own. I usually breed with a friend I have in the light flight so he might move from a couple of dens but I'm sure he'll enjoy the company of his extended family over there. What feels like forever ago, I started snatching old dragons up for fodder. Then I would redistribute them to my friends. Then I ran out of room. So I made a forum post to call for help. I never expected it would become such a huge rendez-vous point for like-minded oldies rescuers! Years later, here we are, a whole team and not just me, and so many, so many dragons saved and rehomed! I am Galopa, the founder of this program, and the proudest oldies mother I could ever be.
