So, my friend is trying to send me a dragon with some accessories and it keeps saying one or more items are missing. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this issue?

Get them to resend the CR... and not vault/AH/equip any of the items, even if they unequip them!
The way CRs work is that they track the specific item you pick via some kind of temporary ID mechanism. If that item stops being accessible to the CR (ie is no longer in the hoard) then the ID is lost. You can move or use other items of the same type, but if you happen to mess with the exact one it picked you'll break the CR.
EDIT: there's quite a few suggestions around to mark items in CRs. Not a bug per se, but a pain in the rear that people wanna see changed.
