im working on expanding my technique with lighting and brushstrokes (seeing as im a very gradient bound artist) and i cant really afford to do it with my client work as frivolously so i did a couple hrs practice today with my progen guardian, rojat. still has a lot of work including a sweet texture pass at the end~ thoughts? pricing? im currently questing one of the kickstarter items and i dont know where to start to make that a map-able goal. i should also note that bellow this is more of what my sketchy work looks like, what would be a ballpark treasure range? im not sure how to word it any less blunt but i dont take any less than $15 an hour when i work on art so gem prices gonna be a little... different than treasure for me. i tend to value digital money a little more loosely since some people aren't able to afford art :o [img]http://www.alexandrajweeks.com/art/sketches/cinnabon.png[/img]

@Ladron I'd say 150k for the sketchy style and 250k for the completed guardian though sadly that also puts it out of my price range Dx. That said, I'd also recommend keeping gem/treasure prices roughly equivalent, as I know that having higher prices in one currency than another can drive away buyers.

@tigercule - ah but the guardian is not completed =[ thats just a 1/4th work in progress

@Ladron er, my bad. this is why I shoudn't try and read multiple lines when I've just woken up. Still, at its current stage I'd say 250k, since I don't know fully what it will look like completed, and don't want to price art that I can't see.

@Ladron first of all, your art is absolutely gorgeous! It's always a pleasure seeing fantastic artists in FR. *u*

Then to more serious matters - 250k doesn't even begin to cover what you should ask for your art. Flight Rising as it is now is a still in a fairly baby stage with the art market and people undercut themselves in heartaching amounts because they mostly don't have the guts to ask for more than others and/or don't realize the value of virtual currency.

If you'd prefer about 15 dollars per hour you should charge that, but it might be really difficult to find buyers in FR forums since people don't maybe value art that much yet or simply don't have the funds :c something like 4000 gems seems like a huge amount of money here even though it's actually just 40 dollars, pretty frigging cheap for art of your skill caliber and detail amount.

1000 gems is about ten dollars. Gem to treasure ratio is currently about 1:380 (though this lives all the time!) which makes 1k gems worth about 380k treasure. 250k treasure, like suggested here, would equal only roughly about 6-7 dollars and I'm fairly sure that's something you don't want to receive for hours of work :,,D generally the more fairly-priced art offers here are about 200k-400k for a headshot or bust and over 500k for a full body, but I don't know how you feel about that.

I'd suggest either selling art here only with USD, or trying the waters with as high prices as you're comfortable with, or skipping selling art in FR alltogether, whatever you're comfortable with! Your art certainly is worth a lot more than just 250k.

@weenyah thank you for the feedback!~ yep im starting to calculate time and cost with my current work schedule and i'd only be able to swing sketch stuff for treasure and gems off/on. does anyone do auctions here or is that allowed? i know ive seen a few bribe threads which id be more comfortable setting a certain standard higher than sketch to do stuff for. i do appreciate your patronage too its been some time since ive done digital art sales through like.. the general public so my perspective is a little off-kilter heh!
