Banshee

“EEEEEEEK!”
A piercing cry echoed through the woods. It sounded like something or someone being tortured. The people in the village put down what they were doing and turned around slowly, cautiously looking at the woods. In their minds, they knew that the Banshee has killed again.

Whereas Banshee smiled at her work, satisfied. She sat on the tallest tree, looking down at the horrified faces of the other dragons. She wiped the blood on her claws on a nearby leaf. Her legacy has continued to spread.

Banshee was once an innocent little hatchling that lost her parents. She wandered up to the village, hoping that someone would adopt her and take care of her. But everyone ignored her. Instead, they left her to her own accord in the woods. Everyday after that, she was attacked but vicious beasts and monsters. She had to survive by herself, eating insects and tree bark. She had no friends, no love, no happiness. Her only instinct was to live. She had her whole childhood stolen from her.

When she grew up to become an adolescent, she started to think about vengeance. These selfish dragons had stolen her childhood by throwing her into the woods in cold blood. They had to pay the price.

She started to think of methods of revenge. She saw a little dragonet playing by a stream. Perfect. She leapt down from a tree and strangled him to death. She admired at her handiwork, and let out a sharp howl of satisfaction. She picked up a leaf from the ground and wrote in his blood, “He is the first, and will not be the last.” She then pulled a piece of vine and bound the leaf to his wrist, and carried the body to the edge of the forest where it could be visible.
Those dragons stole her childhood from her. So she would leave no children for them.

Her pattern became to form. She would kill a hatchling, scream, then leave its dead body at the edge of the woods. She killed so frequently, the villagers started to call her the “Banshee” from her horrific howling. She had no name for herself, since she didn’t have parents. From then on, she called herself Banshee.

The villagers became more careful with their dragonets now, so there were fewer hatchlings for her to kill. But there were always 1-2 strays. Her voice continues to terrorise the region.
