My Slightly Modified Rules

Original Thread:xXx.

Basics:
  • A death in the Coliseum means I flip a coin.
    • Heads = that dragon will give in to the evil side.
    • Tails = that dragon must be exalted and is considered dead.
  • All loot obtained in the coliseum is irrelevant, as is the loot obtained from gathering.
  • There are no restrictions about applying apparel to your dragons. Do whatever makes sense to you. Same goes for familiars.
  • And, most crucially, all nuzlocke activity corresponds with the loot you obtain daily from Pinkerton's plundered pile!
  • Also if I've already done my stuff for the day and I'm bored, I might go to Crim and do another entry :3

Food: Coliseum time!
  • Plants: 10-20 matches
  • Insects: 20-30 matches
  • Seafood: 30-40 matches
  • Meat: 40-50 matches

I am doing this challenge in sort of customized medium mode, meaning I choose the dragons using a random number generator and throw them in the venue one tier down from the highest level dragon. I can flee battles and back out after a match is over but I can't reload during a battle to save anyone.

Materials: Extra writing!

Trinkets: More battles!
  • 1 Star: 10 matches
  • 2 Star: 20 matches
  • 3 Star: 30 matches
  • 4 Star: 40 matches
  • 5 Star: 50 matches
  • Shiny Star: New Dragon

  • 2. Guardian
  • 3. Mirror
  • 4. Pearlcatcher
  • 5. Ridgeback
  • 6. Tundra
  • 7. Spiral
  • 8. Imperial
  • 9. Snapper
  • 10. Wildclaw
  • 11. Nocturne
  • 12. Coatl
  • 13. Skydancer
  • 14. Bogsneak

Apparel: Good Things!

Use a random number generator (1-100).
  • 1-10 = A dragon on the evil side turns good.
  • 20-100 = Breed two of your dragons or gene/breed change a dragon. Who you pick is up to you. If none of the dragons are RTB or it doesn't fit the story, write about friendship and bonding or romance, or if you're desperate for drama, buy a hatchling from the AH/hatch an egg.

Note: You must flip a coin for each hatchling once they hatch. If tails, the dragon is dead and you must exalt it.

Battle items: Death Streak

Death Streak rules: Randomly select three dragons using a random number generator. Fight in the coliseum using the "food" rules 10 rounds consecutively (ie. you cannot leave that arena), quitting midway if a dragon dies.

Day 0
Sanded Pine Plank
I had this pre-written beforehand so here's a prologue thingy right off the bat :D Also Echo is technically 6 months old but in the Pinkerlocke she's still a hatchling shh

I apologize in advance if this piece of writing makes no sense, hopefully it will be explained in time XD

Echo felt blurry. She couldn't remember her past, or anything at all. Her entire body was weak, limp, broken as she stumbled her way forwards. After everything that happened-- she didn't know what happened, just that something had happened-- she was still here. She almost wished she wasn't.

Struggling hard, Echo managed to open her eyes. But there was nothing to see. It was all dark. Dark and black and nothing. Void.

She stumbled another step, hoping for light, any light at all. But she caught nothing but air and fell forwards, rolling down a hill of hard rock.

And all of a sudden, she could see.

"Hi," a voice said. It was warm, welcoming, and all Echo wanted was to accept it. She raised her head weakly and saw the source of the light and sound-- a Nocturne like her. Except he was shining, reflecting moonlight off his scales. He was flashy while she was plain, glowing while she lingered in the dark.

"What's your name?" he asked kindly.

"Name," Echo repeated softly. "Echo." She shivered. The air suddenly grew cold, so cold.

"Echo," the dragon mused. He smiled, but when Echo looked up it was not a pleasant smile. Suddenly the glow around him didn't seem as appealing. "Greetings, Echo. I believe we have met before."

And then all the memories came flooding back. Ones she'd thought she'd forgotten. Echo collapsed. How many lives had she lived? How did she not understand that she was cursed, suffering? All this time, centuries, perhaps. Life after life. In each one, following one dragon and only able to repeat what they said.

She remembered living at least a hundred lifetimes now. It hurt her head. And she had limited speech in all of them, only able to echo one dragon that she was bonded with.

But now she was free. Almost. She just had to get through this one thing and then escape. She knew what he wanted and she knew that it wasn't what she wanted.

"No," Echo whispered.

The Nocturne tilted his head. "Why not? We could be great, Echo. I've lifted your curse so you could join me. A second chance. Will you?"

He seemed so sincere, so pure. But Echo knew what he was capable of. "No!" she cried out desperately, scrambling away from the beautiful Nocturne. "No no no!"

"You loved me," he seemed genuinely confused. "I love you."

"You. Curse." Echo corrected him, trembling as she backed away. "You c-- cursed me. So I always. Return. To you. After every life."

He shook his head. "I thought you wanted a million chances to live. That's what you told me, wasn't it? But I couldn't have you falling in love with other dragons each time, which tends to happen more often when dragons can speak for themselves. There's a certain attraction about someone with independence. I couldn't have anyone taking advantage of that part of you. Echo, I was protecting you."

"Not protection," Echo whimpered. "Not love. Suffering." She couldn't walk or fly so she crawled away from the light, away from her former lover. As fast as she could.

"Echo!" he protested, but the little Nocturne didn't stop. "Echo," his voice quieted. "I'm joining the other side."

Echo froze. "O-- other side?"

The Nocturne confirmed, his eyes hardening. "Other side. I'm going to give in to the dark energy. I'm going to be the first to give in." He smiled proudly, darkly. "And I can promise you I won't be the last."

"You will. Be the last." Echo turned around and shakily but surely met his eyes.

"You'd be surprised at how weak dragons are, Echo," he laughed. "After all, I brought you here against your will, didn't I? Here, to the darkest place in all of Sornieth?"

What had she done to be so lucky? Oh yeah, she'd escaped from her horrifyingly miserable dad. That was definitely worth celebrating. Celebrating! Lena loved to celebrate. That was something that happened a lot in her old Clan. She'd go back if she could, but of course that would take way too long to find, and Lena didn't want to be stuck in the past. The future was so much more bright! Lena couldn't wait for the future. The little skydancer closed her eyes and did a back flip, letting out a loud "Whee!" as she twirled in the wind. Where now? There were so many possibilities, and Lena, who had learned nothing about any map-related stuff at all, had no idea what any of them were. She let out a laugh at her foolishness. Oh well, no time to regret anything now! The Windswept Plateau was such a blessing. All this wind and sky and no trees to watch out for! Lena dove forwards into a front flip with full energy... and promptly crashed headfirst into the ground. "Oof," she lay on the soft, velvety grass. The world was spinning, twisting. Was that normal? It was probably normal. It felt nice as long as she didn't try to lift her head. It was kinda cool, actually seeing the clouds all blur together into one weird white thing that strangely resembled a whale. "Whale!" she cheered. Lena knew about whales because her mom told her they were big and she liked big things so she researched them! It was the only reason she ever went to the library. "Are-- Are you? Okay?" A small, stammering voice approached Lena. It seemed really far away but also was it talking to her? Lena wasn't sure but she probably looked like an idiot anyway to any onlookers so she responded. "I'm fantastic!" she said, extremely proud of the big word she used. "I'm Lena! Of course I'm fantastic! I'm so fantastic that I could eat five strawberry bushes RIGHT NOW if you told me to. Wanna see?" There was no response for full two seconds and Lena decided that she was probably just hearing things. Maybe she had hit her head too hard and hallucinated someone asking her if she was okay. She always wanted someone to care about her. But not her dad. Her dad was mean. At least the sky had stopped spinning now. Lean was disappointed to see that the not-spinning clouds looked more like a bunch of weird bird thing with wings rather than a whale. "You look. Really dizzy?" the voice said. Lena jolted back into reality in excitement. She really was talking to another dragon! Even if this dragon was sounding extremely unsure of itself. She liked confidence but hey, everyone has to start somewhere, right? "Maybe I. Should get a... a... a... healer." Lena shook her head and immediately regretted it. Ouch. Headache. "No need, friend! I am great, thank you very much," she added indignantly. To prove it, she jumped to her feet, which then gave in under her and collapsed. It was very disappointing. "Oh, well," the voice said uncomfortably. "Hey, yo, could you maybe get my legs to work?" Lena, feeling too weak to move any other part of her body, moved her eyeballs so that she could look up at the dragon that was talking to her for the first time. It was a little bat dragon, green and purplish, kinda spooky looking. She loved it! Well, she. It was a she now. Not an it. She was not an it. Lena shook her wings out and beamed with absolute delight. "You're a bat! Yay!" "Um." The bat dragon scrunched up her face nervously. "No. I mean, no. Not bat. You want, a? Healer?" "Sure, if they can get my legs to cooperate with meuuhghldkjgh," Lena's voice suddenly warped into a blob of jumbles as her tongue went limp. "Sothey," she tried to apologize but now her mouth refused to work. The sky seemed to be fading, the sun getting brighter. The bat dragon was a blur now too. Lena spun in the sky joyfully.

Wanna see?"

There was no response for full two seconds and Lena decided that she was probably just hearing things.

"Maybe I. Should get a... a... a... healer."

Lena shook her head and immediately regretted it. Ouch. Headache. "No need, friend! I am great, thank you very much," she added indignantly. To prove it, she jumped to her feet, which then gave in under her and collapsed. It was very disappointing.

"Oh, well," the voice said uncomfortably.

"Hey, yo, could you maybe get my legs to work?" Lena, feeling too weak to move any other part of her body, moved her eyeballs so that she could look up at the dragon that was talking to her for the first time.
dragon?age=0&body=174&bodygene=0&breed=11&element=3&eyetype=0&gender=1&tert=52&tertgene=0&winggene=0&wings=153&auth=a4739c9b557f24a4c316fe15678574203738c017&dummyext=prev.png

It was a little bat dragon, green and purplish, kinda spooky looking. She loved it! Well, she. It was a she now. Not an it. She was not an it. Lena shook her wings out and beamed with absolute delight. "You're a bat! Yay!"

"Um." The bat dragon scrunched up her face nervously. "No. I mean, no. Not bat. You want, a? Healer?"

"Sure, if they can get my legs to cooperate with meuuhghldkjgh," Lena's voice suddenly warped into a blob of jumbles as her tongue went limp. "Sothey," she tried to apologize but now her mouth refused to work.

The sky seemed to be fading, the sun getting brighter. The bat dragon was a blur now too. That was really weird--

What was she supposed to do? She was way too small to carry anyone at all, even another small hatchling. But she couldn't just leave the little dragon all alone to go seek help. A monster could come and eat her. That would be bad. Very bad. Echo decided the best thing to do would be to look around in the area around them for a Clan or a town. She could just return to the little skydancer every once in a while to make sure she was okay. First, Echo searched in the direction of the sun. It was warm that way. But there was no civilization around them. So she returned to check up on the unconscious Lena and tried again. Still, nothing. And she was too afraid of bad things happening to go any further than a few minutes' flight away. She went back and repeated the process anxiously, over and over again, resisting the urge to just curl up in a ball. She had to do this. She had to help her new friend. And on the sixth attempt, she saw something interesting. In the distance was a few moving dots of pink and orange and green and purple in the sky. Day 2
Runed Tuft of Fur
A material :3
Echo froze in a panic when she realized that Lena in front of her had gone unconscious.

She forced herself to look up and...

Well...

There was now a new dragon. Sitting on Lena, who was now obviously wide awake and glaring hard at the Pearlcatcher on top of her.

"Nuh uh, I am leaving," Cool shook his head. "And you two wimpy things can't stop me." He bunched up his muscles to take off into the air.

Lena, quick as lightning, grabbed his wing so that he had to stay. There! Now he couldn't escape from her. Cool tried to leave again, but Lena clutched on tightly, weighing him down.

"Sunset Lashers! Listen!" Cool yelped, exasperated. "I actually don't want to be here. I need to get somewhere, okay? The bush thing was all a misunderstanding, I'm sorry, alright?"
