General Introduction

In Nanowrimo 2013, Ladyrowyn and I started a writers' chat thread in the Wind forum. Since we left Wind, we've created a writers' chat here every month, to (a) meet new writers! and (b) keep in touch with all our Windy friends. (Hi Windies! We still love you all!)

Some purposes for this thread:

• Talk excitedly about your current awesome writing project!
• Whinge about your current project which no longer seems so awesome and you don't want to work on it any more but YOU WILL anyway. Because REASONS.
• Show off snippets of your writing
• Cheer your fellow writers on as they write!
• Commiserate with your fellow writers as they complain about not writing, or about not being happy with their writing
• Ask other participants to pick one of your dragons for you to write something about in the dragon's bio
• Show off dragon bios
• Admire one another's dragons and new hatchlings from time to time (because this IS Flight Rising)
• Any other writerly activities you want to chat about

"Dragon Writers" is a reference to this being a chat on a dragon site; there is no requirement that you write about dragons in order to participate. (Okay, there really aren't any requirements at all).

This is intended to be a general chat thread and not a critique group. Now, it's absolutely fine for a writer to post a link to their work and ask people for feedback and/or criticism! But it's also fine for people to post bits of their writing just to show off and with no desire to have it critiqued. And it's fine if you participate in the thread without ever sharing anything you write, or giving feedback on anyone else's writing.

Unless a writer solicits critiques, please only respond to their writing with supportive comments (or don't respond at all).

Also, this is a chat thread: we're here to interact with one another as writers. Showing up to say 'I haven't read any of the previous messages and am completely ignoring any conversations going on. Please come to my thread/read my writing' is unlikely to work out well for you.

Hi, everyone! Alas I have not had much time for FR lately (particularly alas because I now have tons of space in my hibernal den so I could theoretically buy, like, a hundred more dragons and yet I haven't! Because not on FR as much! WOE.)

Show me your pretty babies I obviously need to buy dragons. :D

Writing is good! I'm working on my fourth release for the year, since the first book came out in January, my next one is hitting retailers March 8th, and pre-orders are up for the book coming out in May. The most fun I've had lately is getting some audio editions done for my epic fantasy trilogy, for which I scored a guy who was on Downton Abbey and he has been so much fun to work with. (There have been other, less fun business stupid things, but that's a day in the life of any job; writing is not special that way.)

Anyway, long story short, I am doing okay with my planned "six novels a year" schedule and I don't feel oppressed by the pace or anything. So that's good.

But seriously, show me your babies. :D

Click the gif of baby dragos in my sig. we need people lol [emoji=coatl sad][emoji=ridgeback tongue] ALSO I was listening to Phantom of the Opera and found an oldish story I was writing about it (kinda it's wierd) but I realized that while I need to edit it a bit (and finish it lol) it has potential!!!!!! WOOOO

How is it already March? wow.

My dragons have migrated back to Ice after two long years of being away and homesick, so we're settling down again and not leaving. Going to put a big story about it in the lore thread when I get time.

As for organising my lair, I didn't have much to do with just 4 perma dragons haha. I basically have a tab for them, one for any students that come along to train and be sold on, one for fodder... and then the Den is just 'Stagnant' because I'm using it as dom fodder storage.

I've never been one much to speculate on things that are coming to FR but a new venue or familiars would be pretty cool as the next thing - or maybe they'll get around to bringing back PVP next?

As for writing related stuff, my dragons visited a friend's clan and together she and I wrote something like 11k words of story. (found in my lore thread if anyone wants to slug through it) Oops?

I finally finished the plot for both novels I'm writing this year, and today I started actually working on the drafts - wrote 1200 words of one and 950 of the other. I'm fairly certain I'll be able to release the first chapter of the gothic fantasy to Inkspired & Wattpad within the next couple of weeks :D

OK so,
Wren (who's me but a little different cuz I wanted to) is a senior who (right now) writes on her desk and this kid responds. they have wierd little back and forth (why no on else write idk but :P). Wren then finds out that the school musical is Phantom and decides to try out. Turns out Outsider (the kid she was writing with) also tried out. So they meet IRL and she is struck. Unfortanetly though, her ex is also in it. So, Outsider is Phantom, Wren is Christine, and Jacob (her ex) is Raul. So its A LOVE TRIANGLE.

I'm gonna rewrite it a bit and maybe make Wren's life roughly reflect the musical and stuff. It's gonna be gooood :D)

Ya...ive been working on revealing the history of one of my characters. And OH BOY. his life freaking sucks. My poor boy, Shrokhan Remoraid. And this is known only by his brother, Vergil, and his bestie, Domino, and his awful parents.

so yeah that's fun. Domino is having a night "camping" with Shro's ex-betrothed. Whom he hates, and whom hates him. Domino is now labeled "The Bridge". And sweetheart, Domino, is the best southern alien bby I have. I would hug him honestly. (who doesn't have a character they just wanna hug for being them?)

So, y'all have heard of SCP, right? Well, I'm thinking of submitting something for the wiki for the Series VI, and I was wondering if you guys could look it over for me?

Well I have completely and utterly failed at writing a short fan fiction 2 times a month. Something always pops up and distracts me. I've been fighting burnout from some really bad insomnia last couple weeks and I can barely read, let alone write. As for dragons I am loving the lair tabs. Long since erased from the records of time, there once existed two dragon clans who served as overseers of history for the powers that be: The Umbra Dragons', dwellers of shadow and darkness, and the Luman Dragons, keepers of the Light. The clans paid each other great respect, and there efforts to maintain the balance between them defended the just passage of time. However that balance was soon toppled.The once harmonious clans fell into disagreement and stocked the flames of hatred against each other, resulting in an era of strife. The conflict between the Umbra and the Luman threw all of Sornieth into a chaotic loop of battle, ambush, assassination, and casualty. It was truly a gruesome war. Despite the radiance of The Lightweaver shining upon them, the Luman Dragons were gradually weakened by the assault of the shadow dragons. Years after the balance was lost the war ended in the Umbra Dragons' favor. In order to protect The Right Eye of Light, The Lightweaver took and placed Himiko into a deep slumber and hid her from the world making Himiko the Last Living Luman Dragon. The Umbra Dragons' victory was short-lived. Fearing the dragons' dark abilities, the beastclans began to condemn the remaining Umbra. They launched the dragon hunts, rounding up the battle-weary dragons' with little resistance and subjugating those who wished to continue the struggle. Talona, the leader of the beastclan hoards pushed the dragon hunts further, and soon the Umbra Dragons', keepers of shadow and darkness were extinguished from Sornieth. [center][b]All But One[/b][/center] I am currently writing about her involvement in the Clan Wars and The Dragon Hunts and how she survived and inherited The Right Eye of Light. The Clan Wars was a long standing conflict that triggered the downfall of the Lumen Dragons and Umbra Dragons 500 years before the events that led to present day (Right Now) They would eventually lead to the disappearance and destruction of both clans from the face of Sornieth. If I chose Jubileus then she will be created by a mysterious force of 11 dead imperials of each element that Talona will use to start and finish the Dragon Hunts therefore wiping out The Umbra Dragons. I still have a lot of information to write before her lore is ready but this what I have so far I have two routes to chose from.
