Story:

She glanced around at the dark forest scenery around her. She kept her wings tucked in but was relaxed. She walked slowly, for her mind was calm and relaxed. The moonlight shone through the towering trees around her and reflected off her blue eyes like glistening ice. Glowing fireflies danced throughout the forest, no end in sight. They were the only source of light besides the moon. Her black scales blended into the growing night. She breathed in the fresh air soulfully.

Eventually, she paused. She sat on her haunches and splayed her black wings out behind her. She felt the cool breeze bat against the membrane. She held her sleek draconic head high, her serpentine eyes blazing. As many dragon parents did, she was kicked out of her home when she became mature and could tend to herself. This was a natural occurrence.

The atmosphere around her suddenly felt freer. She could feel her honorable, gluttonous soul plaguing her heart with desire, but now she could do something about it. This was the start of her journey. Of engraving her own path.

Whilst she was driven out of the treasure-filled cave by her parents, she still brought all her unseen magnificent and life-changing ideas and art with her. A large pouch woven from large leaves and other resources was strapped to her by several thick vines. The single pouch held her art and ideas.

She relaxed her muscles and sighed happily as she bore her icy eyes into the full moon above her. The moon’s pulsating energy radiated off itself and into the universe below it. She could feel it pounding in her brain, sending her neurons into a desire-driven fit.

She flicked an ear as she heard the forest leaves ahead of her being disturbed. She drew her attention to the forest beyond her and narrowed her eyes.

Mere moments later, a male dragon stumbled about, clumsily tripping over a branch jutting out of the ground. A fell on his face hard and hissed in frustration.

She took notice of him and her instincts told her he was no threat. She padded up to him as she frantically got to his talons. His wild brown eyes stared at her nervously.

“Hey! Sorry if I, uh. . . got in your way,” he apologized. His tail hung low in disappointment and embarrassed.

She shook her head to show him that she was not bothered in the slightest. She then cocked her head at him, her eyes round with curiosity. “Who are you?”

“Ah!” He hushed, seemingly surprised that someone had bothered to ask him a rather simple question. “My name is Grand, and yours?”

“Reshrom,” she replied. Her eyes glanced over to a pouch, like hers, but larger. “What’s in there, if you don’t mind me asking?”

Grand’s dark brown eyes lit up with the force of a thousand suns, almost turning golden in color. His entire face lifted eagerly. “Well,” she went on as he took the pouch off him and onto the ground beneath them. “It’s filled with a ton writings and cool stuff, but mainly songs I have written. . ..”

Reshrom felt her heart nagging her. She felt her soul light up again, but this time stronger. She saw something in Grand’s eyes, for what she did not possess the knowledge of.

“I-I do too!” Reshrom exclaimed. She set her pouch down onto the ground, opened it up, and pulled out a stack of messy papers in her talons. “I have quite a bit, and I couldn’t bear to leave it behind.”

“May I see?” He asked. Without waiting for an answer, he picked up one of the papers and started to read it. His eyes dotted across the page with intent precision.

Reshrom picked at the ground below her nervously and tore a few weeds free from their lives.

A few moments later, Grand pricked up suddenly. “Wow,” he stated, not tearing his eyes from the paper.

“You like it?” Reshrom asked.

“I loved it!” Grand exclaimed. His eyes shimmered brightly.

They locked eyes silently for a moment, linking a connection to their minds.

“So...” Grand trailed off in disbelief. “You have the same dream I do?”

“D-Do I?” Reshrom stuttered.

Not answering her question, Grand got to his talons in half a heartbeat. His crooked smile seemed off, but Reshrom could feel that is was probably because he hadn’t smiled in many sunrises.

He lifted his talons out in front of her. “Please,” he breathed. “Please join me. . . we can do this together!”

Reshrom felt as if her heart skipped a beat. “No one has ever appreciated my art before. Are you sure?”

“Yes!” Grand nodded vigorously and dramatically.

This was it. The beginning of her own story and carving her own path….

“Yes.”

A pleasure that will take my mind off the reality of life."
