Flashy Clashy February is open to all of our members to show off their brightest, gaudiest apparel in the hopes of winning some excellent prizes. While the XYYBA is inherently focused on complimentary colors, its Flashy Clashy February Costume Contest is most definitely not! The XYYBA moderators (Foayasha, Abril, & Possum) want to see your boldest, brightest, and craziest combination of apparel on a dragon with colors that don't match its outfit in the slightest. Bring the most cringe-worthy clothing out of your closet and pile it on without a care!

General Thread Rules

• Be kind, respectful, and mature. Be helpful when you can, and be understanding when you can't.
• Do not advertise non XYY dragons on this thread. Similarly, do not claim to be a registered XYY breeder if you aren't on the official Breeders' List post.
• Do not generically bump this thread. We'd like to keep it nice and tidy! Contest-related conversations on this thread are welcome, however, along with your contest entry submission.

Contest Rules

• XYYBA Breeders may enter only one of their dragons into this contest. This is to keep the moderators from being overwhelmed with entries.
• All Tier One XYYs from registered members are eligible, and so are dragons from registered XYY pairs. This includes Tier Two, Three, and Fluke dragons.
• Ping @Possum when you submit your entry on this thread. You will not be listed as an entrant if you don't Ping me!
• You may not switch out your entry if you change your mind. Similarly, you may not re-submit a dragon's picture if you want to add new/different apparel. Do not ask to do this, and choose your submission thoughtfully.
• Submit your dragon's picture wearing its clothing using a third-party image host (Imgur, Tinypic, Gyazo, etc), not a direct link to your dragon. This is so we can reference your original entry image even if you change its apparel later. Look at the Entry Examples if you have questions about how a good submission looks.

The combination of Foayasha's score, Abril's score, and Possum's score will be tallied to determine winners. The four judging criteria are given below, where 1 is the lowest individual category score and 5 is the highest. Overall, a maximum possible entry score is 20, and the lowest possible score is 4.

As a general note, the cost or rarity of the apparel has no bearing on our scoring methods. We're solely judging based on the image you submit.


Category 1: Flashiness
Bright and ugly is better! Are your eyes burning just from the memory this dragon's outfit? That's perfect. 5/5.

Category 2: Clashiness
If Stevie Wonder could have walked into a Thrift shop and picked a more sensible outfit than what this dragon is wearing, then that's perfect. 5/5. Bonus points if none of the clothing colors match the dragon's colors.

Category 3: Creativity
Did you miraculously find at least six pieces of apparel from different sets that couldn't match each other to save your life? That's perfect. 5/5.

Category 4: Quantity
When it comes to Clashiness, looking like a hobo in 6+ lairs is an absolute must. We want to as much on your entries as possible, but you don't necessarily get more points for maxing out the number of apparel slots. We just don't want you to wear a cape and call it a day.

[Q] Do I have to be a member of XYYBA to enter this contest?
[A] Yes. You may register here if you have not already done so. Late registrations could result in late entries, and will not be eligible for submission.

[Q] What if there's a tie?
[A] In the event of a tie, the judges will pick their favorite between the two possible entries, and whichever has at least 2/3 of the judges' votes will be declared the winner.

[Q] Can I post non-entry things on this thread?
[A] Yes. Feel free to have a friendly conversation here or on our XYYBA home page about Flashy Clashy February. Your contest entries must be submitted on this thread though.

[Q] Can I change my original entry?
[A] No. At no point can you change your entry dragon or apparel, so please choose your submission thoughtfully. Do not edit your entry posts at all, please.

@Foayasha and @Abril, what do you think? I'm going to make the Breeders' Announcement soon and am so excited to see their entries! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and excellent ideas with this contest. I couldn't have done it without you both. :D

@Foayasha, the image hosting thing came to me as I was putting together examples. I sometimes forget that my pictures are linked and it had me very confused for a second there, lol.

Let me know if you have a banner (or any of your other amazing graphics) lying around and I'll swap it out with the text one I'm currently using. We can temporarily change the banner on our main page too. :)
