It's a dragon in your lair that represents you.

For example, the dragon in in the first post is my dragonsona because I'm a child at heart(hence the princess look), but I show a mature outlook(the rune gene). Also, my dragonsona takes colour similarities from my fursona(an animal that represents you), to where the pink and red represents parts of my personality. The petals gene is merely there for my love of the gene, and alloy represents my love of shiny things. :>

Now, it doesn't have to be as deep as that, but that's just my example.

That sounds a bit better than the one I had in mind, and since my name is already on the internet in various places, I'll go ahead and do that. I don't know about the concept of mates though.
ol, there were only two blush/crimson/crimson dragons on the ah and ~~she's~~ he's one of them.

I might have to find ~~her~~ him multiple mates (no, ~~she's~~ he's not that), just due to the fact that my fursona has multiple mates (simply due to the fact that she's the god that heats the core of her planet, and requires to have her own children to spread that heat around the world). My dragonsona would take after that as a ~~goddess~~ god, but rather the heat is meant to help "melt" the cold hearts that many sinister dragons take on.

~~he was supposed to be a female but logic as it seems does not want that.~~
