The Ancient One

"H-h-hello?" you whisper into the dark cavern. "I...I want...question...the Nesting...I mean...the Caretaker said to-"

Your voice cuts off with a squeak as two glowing points of light appear in the darkness before you, growing brighter, closer to you. Suddenly, two candles above your head spark to life showering you with twinkling embers.

"IthinkI'llbegoingnowI'msosorrytohavebotheredyouAncientOnedon'tmindmeI'llbeonmyway," you babble, scrambling backwards and away from the immense cavern.

"Don't be silly, child. Come here, it's been some time since one of the younger ones in the lair have visited me."

Eyes wide and claws trembling, you carefully take your first step into the ancient dragon's home.

For this week, share with us your clan's Ancient One. Who are they? Where do they live? Please share only one (1) dragon for the lore week.

She always floates in the air like a ghost, she doesn't even need wings to fly. You can always see a silver mist surrounding her which makes others sleepy if they stand too close. When she moves you can hear a slight tinkle of her chains. But it's not her appearance which makes most dragons freak out - it's her voice. She always whispers and it sounds as if she spoke with an echo of a couple of other voices in the background. Her name means 'painful death' in Tolkien's language even though when she kills, it's painless and really fast. Her main role in clan is protecting it from black magic and curses.

He hasn’t been seen in living memory but brave dragons who venture down into the ancient labyrinth beneath the habitable levels swear that if you can strain your ears to hear past the sound of your own heart beating you can hear a different sound. The sound of someone humming in the dark. An ancient Coatl dialect that no one living can interpret, distorted all the more by the way the sound echos from endless empty chambers. No one has ever stayed down there long enough to find out who or what was doing the humming [/center]

Or swim very very fast.). She lives near the Leviathan Trench, and could probably maybe give some bits of wisdom away if you didn't get too close to her or her charge. Just make a waterproof sign with your questions on it and hold it up from very far away, I'm sure that'll work. Maybe.

I guess he wasn't that old actually, but he's been dead a loooong time. He haunts the ruins of an ancient city. They say the place is cursed, that people who go there don't come back... that the ghost draws you in and kills you... that those who die there join his army... Really he's just lonely and wants friends.

She is the clan Matriarch and one of my progenitor dragons. After her mate left on an exalted crusade she fell into despair and delved into old arcane magic that few attempt to learn. Although she adopted many orphan dragons in attempt to fill the void left by her mate, for a while they feared her. She would spend all of her time in the dark depths of the lair, rummaging through old grimoires and tomes, reading and learning all she could. She would leave only to retrieve new books from other clans and flights. Every once and a while her clan would intervene, scared that she was attempting to raise the dead. When her mate returned from his exalted journey her frozen heart warmed. It was if she had become a different dragon overnight. Now eager to share the knowledge she gained, she teaches all the young dragons in her lair who dare open their minds to the mystical knowledge she bestows upon them.
