The Buzzards simply consume the remains of the old world, they are scrap merchants. From hidden underground tunnels came the buzzards, metal pirates from the buried city. They covered their bodies in bandages to keep the knifing sun at bay and their rides in rusty spikes to keep their enemies away. As you can see, this thread is pretty much dead. Unfortunately my life has taken on a different path from this group. By no means is it a comfy life. There are always tunnels collapsing within the hive, sand in the food, and a growing hunger for scrape which leads to more raids. During the day they live below ground, in the deepest reaches of their hive. By night they scurry out and perform their raids or duties. A Buzzards life is never quiet. Those whom decide to join non-Buzzard Clans are still considered part of the Guild. They are simply [i]'off duty'[/i] or [i]'away on business'[/i]. As long as they know who they are and hold true to the Buzzard way, they are still held in high respect. [center][font=castellar][size=7][color=red]Ranks[/color][/size][/font][/center] [b]Digglings[/b]: Unconfirmed in my opinion, have yet to come across these, but said to be children of the Buzzards or children they have kidnapped. [i][All hatchlings start as this][/i] [b]Skink[/b]: Skinks are the lowest in the Buzzard ranks. They are more numerous but less trained and when not lead to combat by a Night Lizard, they are put on more menial mining tasks and guard duty. They occasionally use subterfuge to hide under the sand, patiently waiting for their prey. Once the victim is close enough, they attack fiercely. [i][All grown dragons with no Rank yet are considered this][/i] [b]Thumpskink[/b]: Thumpskinks are ordinary Skinks that have got a hold of or been provided a melee weapon of some sort. While slightly more dangerous, they are still low ranked in the Buzzard clans.[i] [To achieve this rank you must be promoted][/i] [b]Sand Rattler[/b]:Sand Rattlers are quick and agile Buzzard warriors that have been trained in fighting skills. It is said that some Sand Rattlers used to be digglings that were trained to climb up into buried rafters and old ventilation systems to locate buried loot. The work made them both strong and agile. [i] [To achieve this rank you must be promoted][/i] [b]Raza Rattler[/b]: The most skilled and fearsome Sand Rattlers are given sharp blades to increase their deadliness in combat. These are some of the fiercest fighters you can encounter in the wasteland. [i] [To achieve this rank you must be promoted][/i] [b]Night Lizard[/b]: Night Lizards thrive in the spaces underground that ground dwellers have lost and forgotten. They excavate buried treasure using slave labor, preferring small children they call Digglings. They protect their underground treasures fiercely and are perfectly adapted to the darkness that is now their world. [i][To achieve this rank you must be promoted][/i] [b]Blade Lizard[/b]: Blade Lizards are elite Night Lizards wielding deadly blades forged out of found treasures. Their place in the Buzzard ranks in unknown, since most people who encounter them won't live to tell the tale.[i] [To achieve this rank you must be promoted][/i] [b]Nightbuckler[/b]: The echo heard clanging deep in the dark is an attacker trying to break through a Nightbuckler's shield. The scream of defeat is their victim, knocked down and gutted with their cogwheel axe. [i] [To achieve this rank you must be promoted][/i] [b]Top Spike[/b]: Top Spike leads his pack of Buzzard warriors through the darkness. His war pack is feared and respected. Top Spike is the fiercest of them all. He commands respect from his followers and turns his opponents into maggot gruel. [i] [To achieve this rank you must be promoted][/i] [b]Ghost[/b]: Ghosts are former Buzzards lost to the night and rejected by their clan. They live out their lives in utter darkness and solitude waiting for victims to enter their lairs so they can kill and consume them. They prey always come, looking for scrap, food, or any lost remnants. The Ghosts are waiting to pounce on their victims, viciously ripping them apart with their claws and fangs. This idea is based off the use of lore. What qualifies your dragon is your desire to give them lore, to immerse them into a world of sand and scrap. [i][b]Example[/b][/i]: [i]"In the beginning, when she had been captured by the Buzzards, Ramla closed herself off. Hide her emotions, her voice, everything. They did not hurt her, no, she was far too big for anyone to be of any threat to her. Instead they watched her, asked questions. It was from this Ramla learned of who, and what, the [i]Buzzards [/i]were. Just another clan, another pack, but with bigger ambitions. Here, they treated her with fear, yet awe. Eventually they begin to leave her on her own for longer and longer. It was months after she had been captured did Ramla realize she was free to go, if she wished. But after bonding with this clan of night sand dwellers, she didn't want to leave."[/i] [i][u]Disclaimer[/u][/i]:[i] By no means does your lore for your dragon have to be the same as this. They can be accepted into the Buzzards by adoption as a hatchling or have joined them later on as adults. [item=burlap mantle] - Most clothing becomes torn and frayed, nothing really is 'new' here. [item=alchemist eyewear] - Any Buzzard worth their grit has a pair of these. A good protection from the sand and smoke. [item=brown birdskull necklace] - Collecting bones is a common pass time for the young ones. [item=bloody leg bandages] - One comes to expect a few bloody encounters along the way. [item=black linen leg wraps] - Linen is commonly used as a means to protect one's skin from the harsh elements. [item=leather aviator gloves] - One does not claim to be a Buzzard unless he or she deals with pointy objects on a daily bases. [item=veteran's eye scar] - As those Citadel boys put it "So Shiny, So Chrome." [item=Reaper Guise] - One finds many things adrift out in the wastes, what do you suppose happened to the original owner? [item=Carapace Arm] - Nothing goes to waste out here. ---------------------------------------- By TheGodOfStories [item=primary Alchemist Tools] - Some of the test tubes and vials it came with are now either cracked or missing. The tweezers and other such devices have reached their elastic limit, and the lenses have been smudged and scratched almost beyond their usefulness. The leather bag itself is somehow still holding together.Such a fine set of alchemist's tools--even if they were worse for wear-- would be considered a fine asset in the wastes. Only the highest ranked Buzzard brewers and cooks would be found with this in their claws. [item=night sky wing Silks] - It's likely that the once pristine silks and leathers found out here are now torn and worn looking. Everything out here has seen better days... Except maybe the people. [item=sanddune rags] - It's rather common to scavenge for bones and fabric in the Wastes. One will make due with what they can find. [item=pillager's fur armwraps] - Once the sun sets, a bone chilling cold sets over the Wastes. Keeping oneself warm at night is almost as important as staying alert. [item=untamed banner] - Wraps, banners and other eye catching fabrics are often used to mark one's territory. Maybe not something this bright, but it'll do. [item=journeyman satchels] - It's important for one to keep their most prized possessions on them at all times. [item=Simple iron wing bangles] - Marking one's skin with ink, paint, scars or piercings (and the like) are common in Buzzard colonies. They help to improve one's rank and show brute strength and toughness--Two key elements in being a well respected Buzzard warrior.
