If it makes you feel any better, I kept fodder I hatched myself. Now she's my avatar.
She was a Basic/Peregrine/Basic guardian. And then I made the mistake of scrying her because her tert matched her eyes. And then the worse mistake of making an outfit. She's not quite done (needs shimmer and a couple more pieces of apparel), but here's how she'll look:

Not a fan of crakle but she is pretty. That is neat how the eyes match her tert so well. I like banana but I still wouldn't have guessed.

The only thing he had was shimmer. Turned him into a bog then gave him metalic and runes. He was hecka expensive but him and his mate are still my favorite to breed. Lesson learned, don't take babies to the scrying workshop.

The trick is to scry before you buy to make sure they're not pretty. That doesn't' work for self bred fodder, though. But most people have that one or two breeds they don't like. So when I have a fodder pair, I try to keep it in a breed I don't like.

I had this planned as fodder and ended up changing his primary and tertiary gene, tert which ended up my first opal dragon in my lair even before my progen who I had planned it ever since that gene came out.

And this one as well, I used to breed the parents for lore kids but after the new colours were added some very odd tones mixed into their range which makes now their offspring most of the time more disaster then nice but then this kid happened and I just changed all of his genes even, the secondary even twice when Bee came out (was Rosette before) and another story where he got Bee before anyone else actually older dragons in my lair;

I really like that dragon right there - I am the person who actually like crackle, and it might not look good on every dragon but on those it goes well it is really amazing.
I love her whole aesthetic and feel even though she cost you more then you hoped she could give you back instead xd
