I'm sure we've all purchased pretty dragons for exalt fodder, and then ended up getting attached and keeping them. It happens to most players. Over time, I've come to realize that there will always be more beautiful dragons. I've gotten to the point where I can exalt even pretty dragons if I need to. Unless a dragon is incredibly striking, or has specific combinations I want, I can exalt most dragons without pause.
I bought this girl without any concerns that I'd struggle to exalt her. Green is my favourite colour, but I know there are lots of green dragons.

But I [i]had [/i]to look at her parentage. Her parents are called Jurassic and Park. For context, Jurassic Park is one of my favourite movies. The parents are in an active lair, and appear to be well loved. The first part of their offspring list contains characters from the movie, although there are some random names further down. So I had to look through and make sure that there were no major characters missing from the offspring list. There weren't. Having put in that effort, I didn't want to just give her a random name. So I decided to name her Hubris, which was the fatal flaw of Jurassic Park.
So, having named her, suddenly I don't know if I can just exalt her as if she means nothing. I'm attached. I don't want to resell her as fodder either, because I'll end up sad if she get immediately exalted.

Look at this hatchling. Pretty clashing colors, right? Not really nice to look at, honestly. She was bought with a bunch of cheap fodder with the intent to train and exalt them once they grew up. For 5 days I had her in my lair and for 5 days I just couldn't stop looking at her. Those colors! So bad! So clashing!
But I kept getting drawn back to her. And when she became an adult I realized that her outrageous patterns and mismatching colors somehow wormed their way into my heart. I couldn't exalt her. Not something as unique as her. So I kept her and trained her to level 25 and now she's one of three main coli dragons I have. I even bought her super expensive clothing, and every once in a while will peruse the forums and AH to see if there are any accents that might fit her unique look (though to no avail so far).
So yeah, essentially I kept her because she was so ugly she somehow became so cute to me? Its hard to explain but that's basically what happened.
And now she's one my most important dragons in my lair and my main breadwinner. :)

I dont yet buy fodder to exalt. But i do occasionally spend time flipping dragons sold cheap.
When bee was still fairly new, this guy popped up as a guardian with circuit... but still bee dergs were being sold for 25kt+ at the time. He was listed for 6500t. I snapped him up and i was going to resell him for profit... but i couldnt do it. So now hes in my lair, been breed changed to fae and given underbelly instead of circuit. Plus has lore, art, and is just super adorable. Also is my progen's mate.

My lil' Oddball :') I picked him up for 4kt but I realized how well he fit with my theme and I decided to turn him into a Jester! He'll get an outfit...eventually.

Exalt here, given his name, was always meant to be exalted. I bought him at fodder price just for a quick breed before I was going to exalt him. He was already named exalt when I got him and wasn't too concerned with how he looked or anything. After a while, I realized both of his parents were named Lost and that he had several siblings that were also named Exalt. I simply didn't have the heart to send him off like many of his siblings had and he has now found a permanent place in my lair. Some day I'll write out his lore. :p

Zilyahar was just too pretty not to keep. I was looking through breedable Wildclaws and Coatls on the AH. She was 9000t so I think she was meant to be fodder. She happens to be older than everything in my lair except the progens. The accent colors on poison and toxin don't really match each other but I still love her.
