Some time before the move, two dragons had joined the clan, a male Coatl, and a female Skydancer. Unbeknownst to the pair, the two were taking more than just refuge in the radioactive Starfall Isles; they were taking in light. The magical radiation settled itself into their very bones, leaving them with a very particular and remarkable gift. This gift, however, would not be discover until the clan picked up and left Arcane territory, following the call of the Shadowbinder into the darkness of the Tangled Wood. That was when the gift revealed itself. From the darkness, two lights glowed; brilliant and unearthly. It was unlike any light the dragons had ever seen; from the sunny warmth of Light magic, to the dangerous crackle of Lightning's electricity, from the molten glow of Fire's smithies, to even the odd radiation the former Arcane dragons were so used to, it matched none. It flickered and glowed and flowed and shimmered as if it were some kind of liquid, cool and flowing, yet spirited and bright. And it was coming from the two dragons.
The two dragons had absorbed the radiation of the Starfall Isle, and stored its
uncapturable, unknowable light inside their own scales. And for some mysterious reason, this light had only chosen to reveal itself once they were immersed in the darkness of the Tangled Wood. The light shone from their scales, slowly, idly, dancing across their bodies like clouds across an open sky. The two were mates, and to their surprise, this "gift" had been passed on to their children as well. It was then they decided to call themselves Lavalights, and become a beacon for all of Sornieth's oddities. They hope to someday meet other dragons like themselves and their children... And perhaps someday they may just get their wish. [columns][nextcol]MORE ON LAVALIGHTS Lavalight dragons are a subspecies created by Flight Rising user chemtrails (that's me!) If you haven't already guessed, they are inspired by the "human world's" lava lamps. Lavalights have poison/toxin for their primary and secondary genes, and a variety of tertiary genes, which glow and ripple across their bodies as if they were-- you guessed it!-- the interior contents of a lava lamp. Many subspecies seem to have strict guidelines for what dragons can and cannot be a part of them, and while I do have a few restrictions, most are cheap to add and/or optional! Lavalights can be any element, any species, and nearly any coloring (more on this later.) To avoid confusion about the specifications needed to be a "true" Lavalight (tm), there are a variety of tiers a Lavalight can fall under. These tiers keep track of how many specifications a Lavalight fulfills, without making it so only super rich users with tons of treasure to spend on genes and XXYs can have them.[/columns]

[item=glowing globe]TYPES OF LAVALIGHTS[item=living luminance] Tier A: A tier Lavalights are defined by having a poison or python primary, toxin or morph secondary, and capsule or smirch tertiary genes. The primary and secondary genes must match each other, so no mixing and matching with poison and morph or python or toxin. They are either XXY or within ten shades of being XXY. The tertiary color must match the coloring in poi/tox or py/morph to some degree. Example of an A tier Lavalight: Tier B: B tier Lavalights have the same genes as A tiers, though their color requirements are less strict. B tiers can have mismatched primary and secondary colors, but the tertiary must match either the coloring in the poison/morph or toxin/morph. Alternatively, they can be XXY or within ten shades of being XXY, but have a completely non-matching tert. They must have poison or python and toxin or morph primary and secondary genes, but the primary and secondary genes may be mismatched. They can have any tertiary gene that isn't basic. Example of a C tier Lavalight:

Tier A: A tier Lavalights are defined by having a poison or python primary, toxin or morph secondary, and capsule or smirch tertiary genes. The primary and secondary genes must match each other, so no mixing and matching with poison and morph or python or toxin. They are either XXY or within ten shades of being XXY. The tertiary color must match the coloring in poi/tox or py/morph to some degree. Example of an A tier Lavalight:

Tier B: B tier Lavalights have the same genes as A tiers, though their color requirements are less strict. B tiers can have mismatched primary and secondary colors, but the tertiary must match either the coloring in the poison/morph or toxin/morph. [item=glowing globe] HOW TO FIND A LAVALIGHT [item=living luminance] There are multiple ways to get a Lavalight for your lair! Firstly, if one of your dragons fits the requirements of an A, B, or C tier Lavalight, you can post them here. Specify which tier you are applying them for, and I will certify them as an official Lavalight (tm). Below this section you can find graphics for your Lavalights' bios. Once your Lavalight is certified by me by posting on this thread, put the matching badge in your dragon's bio and show the world that they are a Lavalight! If you have a dragon that is already certified as a lower tier and you have gened them so that they can fit a higher tier (like a C tier getting the proper tertiary needed to be A or B tier), post them here as well! State which tier they were previously, and which tier you are applying for them now and I'll get right on it! Finally, you can find the Lavalight-specific hatchery thread run by me right here! (Note: the hatchery is currently inactive/closed. It may or may not be revived in the future.) GRAPHICS Lavalight bio graphics are here! All featured art is by Flight Rising user chemtrails (aka myself). I love this idea! I have some dragons that could qualify as Lavalights! These guys I think would be an A grade if I understood the color requirements correctly: And all these guys have the right colors but wrong tertiary gene, which should make them grade Cs?
