@Nzoth [center][size=2][b]I'm not gonna say I now how you feel. Being diagnosed with Chronic Depression over 3 years ago, I've learned that that's one of the worst things you can say to someone. But I do know what it feels like when nothing seems to matter. When you have days where you cry so hard that you fall asleep out of exhaustion, and then only wake up because staying in bed doesn't help. That it feels like no matter what you do, its never enough. That you aren't with an ounce of the kindness and love you so desperately want. That no one would if you up and disappear one day. That it will never get better. But I can promise on my life that it [i]does[/i]. It's hard. Really hard. It's hard to be happy, to feel worthwhile, but you can and are. Whenever people learn that I'm chronically depressed, that at one point of legitimately considered taking my life, they often ask how I got better, how I went from a quiet, super un-confrontational little girl to the snarky, yet kind person I am. I've always said that it's because I did three things: 1, I smiled. Even of I had the worst day, failed tests, lost a pet, got screamed at, yelled at, even humiliated, I always took the time at home to sit down, put the biggest, goofiest smile on my face and laugh. The kind of laugh when someone trips and falls over; You're not laughing at them, but at the ludicrousness of life and what happened. Then I ask myself three questions: What was one good thing I did for someone else? What was one good thing someone else did for me? And what was one good thing that happened today? It can something as small as giving a warm smile to someone on the street, but it still means something. 2, I didn't try to be myself, nor someone else, but who [i]I[/i] wanted to be. Who someone truly is is often wierd and off-putting, but being someone else is often seen as being fake and insecure. So be the person you want the most to be. You want to be the snarky know-it-all that everyone goes to for advice? Go for it! Want to be a kind, but secretly fanatical shipper? You go girl! The hardest part isn't deciding; It's taking the steps to become that way. I listened to other people talk and taught myself how to speak, and eventually how to confront people about things. 3, I had hope. I told myself it would get better, that I would be happy more often and more deeply. I told myself I would have more friends, that I would be able to start a conversation without being paralyzed with fear. And most importantly, I never let that hope go, cause hope is the one thing that no one can take away from you -- except yourself. I know you probably didn't want someone to spend an essay on you, but if you do read this and take anyway anyway, please, remember that just because you don't see them doesn't mean people don't care. We are flawed creatures, and we don't know we love something till we are at risk of losing it. So if you need a reason to get up in the morning, to do better, to get better, do it for those who you don't realize they care, for those who don't realize they care about you, and if that doesn't sway you, do it so I know that you'll be able to look back at this time and laugh, because I care.
