Since there are so many dragons available & limited lair space, it's definitely getting harder them away. I'd say "ugly" is subjective-- everyone has a different taste. But in general, dragons with basic (unless g1) & older treasure genes may be harder to give away because they're not popular/generally disliked.
I'd suggest posting in either the Raffles or Giveaways forum advertising free dragons for newbies, or posting in the various Adopt-a-Dragon/free dragon threads in the Dragon Trading Forum. If you still don't get responses within a week, I'd say your best bet would be to just exalt them.

If you want to give them away for free, the Raffles / Giveaways and Dragon Trading forums are the best places I know, like Whirlwish already said.
My other suggestion would be keep an eye out in the Find a Dragon forum for specific requests that match your dragons, but it looks like you've been doing that :)
Even with the den giving us more lair space, space is still limited. I end up exalting more dragons then selling them. If you don't want to exalt them yourself you can check the auction house for the lowest priced adults and list them for that. They will probably be exalted by someone else, but you'll at least get some treasure for them

Nice of you to try finding your dragons homes, but I'd suggest a few things to remember-
Don't take it personally if you can't get someone to take them. There are plenty of reasons why;
-People might have too many dragons already. Lair expansions (especially for larger lairs) cost a lot of money! Many people don't want to take in extra dragons, especially if they don't have prior plans for them.
-Each dragon eats up resources. Similar to the previous reason, food costs gathering turns and/or money, and an extra dragon will eat up a lot over time.
-A lot of lairs nowadays are fully devoted to certain breeding projects, and/or adding lore for their dragons. Sometimes new dragons are welcome to change up the dynamics, but many users are looking for certain qualities in a new dragon.
On that same note, many people want very specific color ranges, genes, and even specific eye types.
-Breeding status, # of offspring, how old the dragon is, whether they are 1st generation or not-- there are plenty of factors as to how people pick their dragons.
That being said, you can always try auctioning your dragons! There's no guarantee, unfortunately, that they won't be exalt fodder, but you can leave a note or message the person who buys them that you'd rather not see them exalted.
