This was inspired by TheDarkestDream's post Your Daddy is an exalt fodder, which I suggest you check out, it's a lot of fun! I mean, it inspired me for a reason!
I remember when I first started to play Flight Rising, I had bought a pretty Mirror from the AH and excitedly bred it with a pretty Coatl my girlfriend had just given to me. She warned me that I was basically never going to get a Coatl from that pairing - it was so rare I might as well assume it impossible. It made me wonder, what if I did manage to get a Coatl?
For a few months I even had a pair that was Mirror/Imperial, which I'd actually get an Imperial baby every month or two. That made me feel really lucky.
So I figured, why not test my luck? See how much success I have getting a triple gened Coatl or Wildclaw from these pairings! And probably make a lot of fodder along the way.
Let's meet the parents! I've got the very hard-working mother, Kyanite!
She's got some very pretty blues, a wonderful contender considering her mates! Speaking of mates, she's got three, so she's able to breed more often than once a month. Plus with how many kids she'll be having, she could use the extra help.
First up we've got Moonstone!
A gorgeous XXX lad! I'm not always a fan of Glimmer, but I think it looks really pretty on Wildclaws! Here I've go this breeding card!
Next up is the wonderful Tourmaline!
A very pretty boy, with nice accent colours! I love the way Star/Con looks on him, and his eyes match perfectly! Time for the breeding card!
And finally, the darling Zircon!
Got that gorgeous Opal again, and those enchanting dark blues towards the middle range! And now for his breeding card.
So that's all the parents! Now we know that any one rare trait (Breed, Primary, Secondary, OR Tertiary) is 1% per hatchling, but let's get into some more specific statistics, shall we?
The full breakdown will be in the dragons' bios, so that anyone who doesn't want to hear me regurgitate numbers and lessons from a statistics class can skip over it. But if you'd like to double check my work, or are just a math nerd like me, you'll find it with the dragons!
The gene/breed statistics will be with Kyanite, and each father will have his own colour statistics!
Long story short, the chances of getting a Wildclaw or Coatl with full genes, would be around 0.000001% per egg. That would be 1 in 100 000 000, which is one hundred million if that's too many zeros to comprehend.
All in all - these are really bad chances.
For comparison, catching a shiny Pokemon - a famously rare endeavor - is 1 in 8192 in the earlier games, and 1 in 4096 in the later games. That's 0.01% and 0.02% respectively, which is about the same rate as getting two genes, or Wildclaw/Coatl and a single gene in these nests.
But just like when people may hunt for shiny Pokemon, this isn't about IF I get a triple-gened Wildclaw/Coatl, it's a matter of WHEN. If I'm willing to do this challenge long enough, I should be able to get one.
That being said, I'm going to make some colour challenges to see if I get along the way!
I'm also going to keep track of every individual rare trait that the hatchlings could have!
Alright, time to get this started! You'll find more information in the next post, including the pinglists! Let me know if you'd like to be added! I'm subscribed, so no need to ping me! I'll try to reply to everyone as confirmation, but feel free to reply again if it looks like I missed you.
