- Wishes must be sent by private message only to Ganondorf, and require a 50,000 treasure fee.
- Preferred eye colour is not a guarantee. Reasonable efforts will be made to get the right eye colour, though it may not always be possible.
- Due to their uncontrollable and random nature, we do not accept requests for specific eye types. If an eye type other than common happens to be inherited by the perfect baby and is undesirable, we will provide a Vial of Tempered Sight free of charge.
- Wishers may only submit one wish per person at one time. Once a wish is completed, wishers may submit another wish.
- Wishers may submit wishes for an identical breeding pair. These wishes cost 100,000 treasure, as you are receiving two unrelated dragons, and are reserved for experienced breeders only.
- Wishes can be changed at any time while they are unassigned, free of charge, and keep their place in line. If they are changed to a wish containing a recently-released gem gene, they may lose their place in line to allow enough time for the market prices for dragons with that gem gene to lower. See below regarding changing wishes that are assigned.
- We reserve the right to refuse or refund a wish at any time.
What happens once a wish has been requested?
- Ganondorf will record the wish on the wishlist spreadsheet, on the Unassigned tab. There, the wish will wait until a breeder has room to take on the project, at which point it is moved to the Assigned tab. The average wait time for a wish to get assigned is about 6 months.
- Once a breeder is working on the wish, it may take them anywhere between 2-18 months to complete, depending on it's difficulty and other variables. 18 months is not a guaranteed maximum, due to the random nature of breeding dragons.
What happens if the wisher or breeder goes inactive?
- We are implementing and trialing a new system for this problem!
- When a wish is assigned, the breeder will message the wisher. The wisher will have a month to respond before being unassigned and moved to the inactive list. Once we have a response from the wisher, the breeder starts the project!
- At the 6 month mark after assignment, Ganondorf will message the breeder to give them a status report, and prompt the breeder to message the wisher to update them on their wish, and check to make sure the wisher is still active. Breeder & wisher have a month to respond, and if Ganondorf doesn't hear from the breeder, the wish will be reassigned to another breeder, and the new breeder will update the wisher. If we don't hear from the wisher, the wish is moved to the inactive list.
- Every 6 months, this process will repeat, until the wish is granted.
- Wishes on the inactive list will be messaged again after 6 months has passed, and if they do not respond in 6 months after the last message, they will be removed from the wishlist.
- Anyone inactive or removed can message Ganondorf at any time to be put back onto the main list, but will be placed at the bottom.
What about canceling/changing assigned wishes?
- If the wish you want to change or cancel is assigned to a breeder, please message Ganondorf ASAP. The sooner we know, the sooner the breeder can stop putting time and resources into an unwanted dragon. If the wish is being changed, it is up to the breeder if they will accept the new change into their project. If they do not, the wish will be moved back to the bottom of the unassigned list. At this time, we do not offer refunds for canceled wishes.
What are House Wishes?
- House wishes are wishes that are specifically meant to be easy to breed, and they’re reserved for only new breeders. They are our back-up “easy wish” list in case there are no easy wishes available on the main list when a new breeder joins the Dragonwish Foundation.
- Other than this, they also differ from main wishes in that there is no guarantee they will ever be fulfilled, and there is no time limit on their completion. Because of this, the wishers pay the fee after the wish has been fulfilled, rather than before. Only Dragonwish Foundation members may place House wishes, hence the name.
- To be eligible for a House wish, the goal ideally will be a plentiful, common, or uncommon dragon; have at most 1-2 easily bred-in gem genes, but ideally none (any non-gem genes okay); and have at least 5 pages of listings on the Auction House in a range 5 colours out from the goal, under 50kt/50g.
How to Help
There are multiple ways you can help the Dragonwish Foundation. Here is a list of the different roles within the group, and what each role entails. If you would like to join, message

Breeders
Breeders set up breeding projects, arrange studding, and plan out how they’re going to get the specified wish dragons they have been assigned. Experience with breeding projects is an asset, but none is okay - we have easier wishes for newer breeders to practice on.
With the exception of dragons from the Nursery, the Dragonwish Foundation does not provide dragons or funding to breeders for their projects. However, this also means that breeders are free to do whatever they like with the dragons they do acquire, and any reject offspring. Most breeders make back any money spent on buying dragons by selling or exalting parents and offspring they don’t need.
Here are a few rules all breeders must follow:
- You must be willing to give the wish dragon away for free to the wisher.
- Breeders are expected to be active, and to actively work on their assigned wishes. If breeders need a break or need to stop working on their wish, please message Ganondorf to pass the wish on to another breeder. Inactive breeders may have their wish reassigned to a more active breeder.
- Breeders are encouraged to ask for help should they get stuck. Feel free to message Ganondorf, or ask questions on the DWF Discord. To join the DWF Discord, message Ganondorf for an invite link.
Nesters
Nesters lend their nests to breeders for Dragonwish Foundation wish projects. A nester receives a pair from a breeder, nests that pair, and sends back the pair and all their offspring back to the breeder, free of charge, though tips & food are welcome.
Only breeders may use the nesting pinglist, and only for Dragonwish Foundation wishes. If a nester feels the list is being abused, please message Ganondorf.
Nursery Network Members
Members of the Nursery Network pick up and store in their lair or den, close dragons for unassigned wishes, to be given to breeders once the wishes are assigned. Space, therefore, is a requirement to join the Nursery Network.
Nursery dragons are recorded on the wishlist spreadsheet, and whoever is donating the dragons in question should use the form linked there to add new additions. The donor may then use the nursery pinglist on the members sheet to find a Nursery Network member to hold the dragon.
Please do not use the Nursery Network for permanent dragons, as donated dragons are not always returned. Instead, if you would like to stud a permanent dragon, or if you would like to sell a dragon to the Nursery, but not necessarily join the Nursery Network or the DWF, you can do so on
this thread.
Nursery Scouts
Scouts scour the nursery dragons (listed on the Wishlist Spreadsheet), auction house, and dragon search (with referencing our Library Members list as an aid in this) for overlooked close pairs that could get a wish done very quickly, and find a breeder to officially take on the project. Scouts can potentially grant wishes themselves, if they take on the project as a breeder, or if they find an exact match for a wish.
To coordinate the scouting efforts and make sure multiple people aren't pestering the same person for a dragon, scouts communicate their activities on the
scouting thread. The information is compiled weekly by Saturnpunk, our Eagle Scout, who will then ping breeders on the Scouted Wishes pinglist to take on any newly-found quick wishes. If no breeder is available to take a spotted wish, then the wish will be labeled green on the wishlist to signal to breeders looking later that the wish is a quick one. If scouts have dragons for that wish that need storing, they can ping the nursery members.
Understanding our gene scroll purchase limitations (see below in the Bank Status section), gene rarity, and knowing how to calculate odds for potential pairs and what makes a breeding project fast is a must for effective scouting. Previous breeding experience is an asset here.
Library Members
Library members have given us permission to stud some or all of their permanent dragons. When using the Dragon Search, breeders can have this list of usernames on hand, and if they spot a username from the Library in the Dragon Search looking for likely studs, they know that dragon might be available for them to request a breeding from.
Due to the very varied nature of dragons, it is actually fairly rare to find a useful dragon for a specific project from a specific person’s lair, so some Library members might never be contacted simply because none of their dragons were close to any wishes. Nonetheless, this is still a useful role for breeders to reference, and this is the role for you if you would like to stud your dragons, but not get involved otherwise.
Mentors
Mentors are experienced breeders who help answer questions and give guidance on setting up projects to people asking for help on the
Breeding Mentorship thread.
Experience with a variety of breeding projects ranging in difficulty is a must, but mentors don't necessarily have to be working on breeding projects, for the DWF or otherwise, while working as mentors, so this is a good role for those who don't have time/space to currently conduct breeding projects themselves, but are still interested in helping out.
Other Ways to Help
- Sell a dragon: We run a thread seeking dragons that are exactly the wish dragon or even close to wish dragons, to be potential parents. The seeking thread, run by TacoTequila, is for you, if you have a dragon you'd like to sell to us. We generally have very strict requirements for close dragons that we pick up. More details on that can be found on the thread!
- Buy a dragon: We also run a sales thread filled with the nicer rejects from breeding projects, donated by the breeders. Half of the profit from the dragon goes back to the donor breeder, and half goes to the DWF bank for purchasing gene & breed scrolls for wishes. Anyone can donate a dragon, but it needs to be nice enough to reasonably expect to sell for a minimum of 30g or 30kt.
- Donate: We accept donations of any kind, and the primary purpose of all funds collected is to be able to purchase breed and gene scrolls for wishes. Gem & treasure is most readily used for purchasing scrolls. Items may be sold, or added to future raffles. Dragons may be added to the Nursery, sold, raffled, or exalted. Please do not send us dragons you don’t want to see exalted. Dragon donations can be sent to Ganondorf. Gem, treasure, item, and gene donations can be sent to Ganondorf or amuseoffirebane.
Regarding Inactivity
Periodically, Ganondorf will go through the complete member list, and check on each member for signs of activity (fed dragons, most recent forum posts). If there are no signs of activity for a year, Ganondorf may remove that member from the list. If you return and would like to rejoin, simply message Ganondorf to let them know! In addition, breeders are expected to give a status report on their wishes periodically. See above in the wish rules 'What happens if the wisher or breeder goes inactive?' for more information.
Bank Status
The wish fees, dragon sales, and donations go into the Dragonwish Foundation bank, held by amuseoffirebane. The bank is then used for purchasing gene and breed scrolls to help speed along the process of granting wishes. These scrolls are to be used on the final goal baby only, NOT parents. To request a gene from the bank, breeders must first message the wisher to clarify that the intended dragon is the dragon they want, with the genes applied. Once the breeder has confirmation from the wisher, then they may message
Ganondorf or
amuseoffirebane to request the gene to finish the wish.
