Adaro has problems. Adaro has lots of problems. His main problem is that, for some reason, when Guardians on their Search encounter him, 9 times out of 10 he ends up being their Charge. He hates it so, so, so much, especially because the Guardians that end up following him around are a poorly-adjusted bunch on the whole. His parents are Oblivion, a stoic and somewhat curt Guardian who secretly enjoys imparting his survival knowledge to those young'uns who venture out of the clan and chasing after his mate, the clan's (other) directionally-challenged Mirror, ThisWayOrThatWay. She wandered in by accident and probably couldn't find her way out if she tried, so she's stuck around.

ETA: Oh, I enjoy your lore. <3 The short version on the two above are that the male's parents are biochemists who are absolutely NOT poisonmasters of course not, and the girl's are mystics in a clan full of technically-oriented materialists that treat them more or less the same way many offices treat the IT people- i.e. people who do something important that cannot and should not be understood but should definitely be called and pestered with "Have you tried turning it off and on again"-grade problems.

He might be lucky to be rejected, as the "chosen" children are those whose bodies Ani reincarnates into. Since he wasn't chosen, he would have grown up fairly happily with Ani, their consort (his father), and his other rejected siblings. (He has two sisters also in my sales tab, but they're not as good-looking).
