@Marburg

that's such a cool idea :D I'd love to contribute if you ever set something like that up!

I'm the same way, had a heck of a time narrowing it down to just one (and I still kind of regret not picking a savory recipe, ah well)

@AgentModem Here's my entry! English is my second language, so I apologise if there are some awkward translations here and there: Entrant Name: Snaphance #2380 Name of Entry: Spicy vegetable soup Recipe and Description: A hearty vegetable soup which is particularly great for chilly winter nights. (Should make about 4-5 portions) - 1 liter of water - Appropriate amount of vegetable bouillon cubes - 2-3 medium potatoes - 1 sweet potato - 2-3 beetroots - 2-3 carrots - 1/2 onion - 2-3 dl of beans (I usually buy them canned and ready to cook right away. I prefer kidney or white beans, but any beans should work) - 1 handful of kale - Pepper and dried chili or chili powder for seasoning Start with putting the water and bouillon cubes in a pot and stir till the cubes are dissolved. Peel the sweet potato and beetroots--carrots and potatoes too, if you prefer. Dice the potatoes, beetroots, sweet potato and carrots, and put them into the pot in that order. Beans go in once it has started boiling. Stir occasionally, and use a fork or knife to check how firm/soft the potatoes are. Chop the onion and kale finely, and add those near the end. @aquatayton Anything is allowed! Since Shadow is particularly fond of cookies, our desert section is cookie specific, but cookie-inspired desserts count for that as well. If your cupcakes are not cookie inspired, they would still be eligible for the other minor categories like best use of maple, best photography, and even best use of mushrooms if you make mushroom cupcakes...or the over-arching prizes like people's choice and best in show.

I have a feeling my plant eating dragons will love this carrot, mouth watering dessert (and for a gag, (maybe literally) all you tricksters out there, you can give this to that friend or sibling of yours that hates veggies ;)

This will make a minimum of 22 delicious cup cakes!

You will need:

Cake:
 • 2 cups sugar
 • 2 cups flour
 • 4 extra-large eggs
 • 1 1/3 cups vegetable oil
 • 2 teaspoons baking soda
 • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
 • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
 • 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt (regular salt also works)
 • 3 cups grated carrots (less than 1 pound)
 • 1 cup raisins (optional)
 • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Frosting!:
 • 3/4 pound cream cheese at room temperature
 • 1/2 pound unsalted butter at room temperature
 • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
 • 1 pound confectioner’s sugar (icing/powdered sugar)

Toppings!:
For this I used Cadbury's Mini Eggs
I have also used crushed Toblerone in the past (It tastes just as delicious)
You can also use shredded carrots, raisins, or walnuts as toppings (I just like chocolate though)

Now preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In one bowl, beat;
2 cups sugar
1 1/3 cups vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
and
4 extra-large eggs
(Extra-large is extremely important or the cakes will not rise! do not attempt to use multiple small eggs either, I have tried this and it failed as well!)

In another bowl sift;
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 salt

Then add half the dry ingredients to the wet, stir well.
Add the 3 cups carrot shavings, raisins, and walnuts to the other half of dry ingredients, and mix well. add to the wet batter and mix. (I recommend adding a bit then stirring, as the carrots can be tough.)

cream; 3/4 pound cream cheese
1/2 pound butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Into the bowl of an electric mixer (paddle attachment)
Add 1 pound icing sugar
beat until smooth!

When cupcakes are cool, top them generously with the icing, add topping and serve with a smile and be proud of your work!

@AgentModem Here's my entry! Just as a side note for anyone wanting to try this at home- I doubled the recipe when preparing it, so it won't actually make as much as pictured unless you do the same. Entrant Name: Troubletail Name of Entry: Magical Mushroom Macaroni Recipe and Description: A quick-and-easy tweak on basic boxed macaroni mix that creates the illusion of a creamy, delicious gourmet dish. The cost, time, and effort involved are barely more than if you just served it plain, but it tastes much fancier. Perfect for when you're short on time or energy. Ingredients - 1 box macaroni mix of your choice (with cheese powder) - 4 tbsp margarine or butter (quantity may vary depending on macaroni mix) - 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup - 1 jar sliced mushrooms Optional: - parsley or other herb(s) of your choosing (to taste) Cook the macaroni noodles according to package directions. After the noodles have been drained and returned to the pot, add margarine and cheese powder as normal. Do not add milk; instead, empty the can of cream of mushroom soup into the mix, along with the sliced mushrooms (and herbs, if desired). Stir until ingredients are evenly distributed, heating on low if necessary. @AgentModem Entrant Name: Xythus Name of Entry: "Embracing your Inner Shadow" Recipe and Description: This is a great way to impress your guests at potlucks, dinner parties and at gatherings; this drink is easy to prepare and looks super fancy when served in a glass cup. Ingredients: - Fresh fruits. You can use any, really, but for this theme I used strawberries, blueberries, and black grapes. - One large Navel Orange - One circular slice of Lime - Dark-colored juice (Blueberry pomegranate was used, but grape works too!) Make sure all fruits are properly washed!!! This is very important, as they will be steeping for a long time. Cut the oranges into slices, preferably in circles as thats aesthetically pretty. Cut the strawberries into fours. Add all the fruit into a large punch bowl. Then, pour the juice into the mix. Depending if you need the lime as a garnish later, either put the whole slice in, or squeeze the juice into the bowl. (This is to prevent the fruit from browning.) Let it sit there in a cool place for at least two hours. Most fruit drinks are very sweet; the fruit will give the juice a crisp, citrus flavor. The cool thing is, the orange/lime slices and strawberries will become dark in tint, which is cool for scary themes. Serve in a glass cup, and enjoy! Feel free to add ice, but don't until the very end as melting will dilute it.
