So I had this idea the other night of doing a Project Runway style game/contest. Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, I don't use the forums very often.
The general idea is this: A group of contestants apply to be in the contest. I'm thinking 10 people maximum. Another group apply to be judges, we'd need 3.
Each week, there will be a design challenge, in which contestants are given a theme, and must chose one of their dragons and create an outfit for that dragon using site apparel based on that theme. They then post their looks, with a list of apparel used, and judges score the outfits on a scale of 1 to 10. The contestant with the lowest score will be dropped from the competition, the contestant with the highest score will receive a small prize.
When we get down to 3 contestants, we enter the Finale, where contestants must create a 10-look collection on a theme of their choice. The final winner gets a gem marketplace apparel bundle, an unhatched egg, and I'll create a piece of art of one of their dragons in a winning outfit.
EDIT: There has been a fair amount of interest, but primarily for judging spots, which... kinda defeats the point! So I wanted to clarify some ideas I had to perhaps make contestant slots less intimidating. Breaking it down by category. If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions, please speak up!

But right now the real main concern is WE NEED CONTESTANTS!

Judging
- I will not be a judge. Think of me like a dragon Tim Gunn. I'm here to announce challenges and make sure contestants meet their deadline
- However, I will personally choose the judges
- IF we get to the point we have enough interest and contestants to warrant the game, I will take applications for judges. I will choose three, and will specifically look for three individuals with vastly different tastes in lair aesthetics. This is to provide balance; I don't want three people who will all favor, say, samurai armor.
- Judges will be given a primer or some sort of brief training by me so that they have an idea of how to be constructive, not just mean. I don't want this to turn into 'snarky lair reviews: the game', but to be a fun challenge with and celebration of dragon fashion!
- IF we get contestants, and IF judging is still in such hot demand, we could maybe offer guest judging slots for a small fee. This fee will go into the prize money for the first place winner.
Contestants
- To help even the playing field, there will be a cap on cost per item for each challenge, based on marketplace value. For instance, for one challenge perhaps no one is allowed to use apparel that costs more than 20kT MPV. If an item isn't found in the marketplace, that cost then applies to lowest auction house value at the time of purchase.
- You are allowed to seek donations for items as long as they meet any cost restrictions
- In the interest of fairness, the following will be banned from the competition:
- Gem apparel
- Retired apparel
- Holiday apparel EXCEPT for Emblems and apparel from holidays that occurred since the last reg window
- Skins and accents (primarily because of cost and accessibility)
Questions for you folks
- How do we finance prizes?
- Should we give a prize per challenge or just have the grand prize?
- What themes would you like to see for challenges? Flights? Colors? 'Choose the dragon breed you dislike the most and dress it up nice'?
- Should I have a 'WrightNDesk Save' like the Tim Gunn save, where if I feel a contestant had a bad week and deserves another shot after being eliminated, I can save them, but only one person in the ENTIRE competition?
- TIME FRAME. A week to create outfits? A few days? What?
- Should we change the name to avoid copyright infringement, and if so, to what?
But right now the real main concern is WE NEED CONTESTANTS!
