Somehow, this hotel on the edge of the Tangled Woods manages to be both goth and gaudy. The trim may feature a skull and bones motif, but those skulls and bones are encrusted with diamonds, and the black walls shine like mirrors (funhouse mirrors: any dragon trying to glimpse their reflection in them would find it oddly distorted). A flashing neon sign over the entrance reads “FRIP’S CASINO,” and under that, picked out in diamonds, “Abandon hope all ye who enter here.”

The dragons who enter this place are not deceived. They know they will probably die. In this casino, one bets with one's life -- but the prizes accrue to one’s immortal soul.

Hello and welcome to Frip’s Casino, an RP mafia game. The twist this time around is that instead of having a sign up phase and a definite ending, this game is indefinite. The game will continue as long as possible, with new dragons added as currently playing ones are killed. There's no permanent winning or losing in the Casino, only lucky streaks …

Basic Rules
  1. Use basic etiquette, types roleplaying and general: be polite, no godmodding, etc.
  2. Players may not discuss the game privately (except for Hunters); nor may they screenshot admin communications.
  3. Post editing is allowed only for cosmetic purposes. You can fix typos and similar minor mistakes, but may not substantially edit the content of the post, especially in any way that would affect gameplay.
  4. Players who do not post or take night actions for more than 3 game days and nights (that's 288 hours, or 12 real time days) will be removed from the game. This counts as a death.

ROLES

A maximum of 20 dragons at a time are permitted into Frip’s Casino, where they are divided into Innocents and Hunters and given the following roles. Hunters’ goal is to kill all the Innocents, while Innocents must seek to uncover and lynch the Hunters, for their own survival. When the casino is full, there are 6 Hunters and 14 Innocents

Days in Frip’s Casino last 48 hours and end with a lynch vote. Nights last 48 hours, during which players should PM me their role actions.

hunters

As a group, the Hunters may decide to kill one dragon each night, separate from any role powers used. (This discussion will be carried out via a Discord server made available only to living Hunters.)

Killer: A creature of pure brute strength and murderous intent. Each night, this dragon may target and kill another, separate from the Hunters' group kill.

Forger: An expert in deception. Each night, this dragon may choose an Innocent and leave false evidence pointing to that individual at the scene of the Hunters' group kill.

Manipulator: A master of manipulation, able to control the minds of others. Each night, this dragon may choose an Innocent and force them to use their role on someone else. Any consequences of this action will fall to the Innocent, not the Manipulator. However, the Manipulator lacks the ability to read the role of the individual they target.

Hypnotist: Skilled in making others believe they're something they're not. Each night, this dragon may choose two Innocents and swap their roles.

Graverobber: Someone who goes digging around for corpses -- watch the smell. This dragon has a one-time ability to choose a role from the graveyard and take it on. This includes Innocent roles. The role they choose will be publicly announced, and the Graverobber role will be added to the graveyard.

Black Hole: A complete mystery. All actions targeted at this dragon fail.

innocents

Investigator: Each night, this dragon may choose another and learn their role. If the Investigator dies, the results of all their investigations are made public.

Bodyguard: An expert in personal safety. Each night, this dragon may choose another, who will be protected from all attacks.

Stopblock (2): Very good at building barricades, and removing them before morning comes. Each night, these dragons may choose a target to lock in their room, preventing them from taking any actions that night. There are two Stopblocks in the game, neither of whom have any knowledge of the other.

Copycat: A skilled imitator. Each night, this dragon may choose one dragon, whose role they may then use as if it were their own. However, the Copycat has no special knowledge of which role their target possesses, and unlike the Manipulator, any consequences of the Copycat's actions will affect them, not their target.

Dead Man's Switch: Carries an explosive charge, wired to go off upon their death. Anyone who kills the Dead Man's Switch during the night will also die, although this may be cold comfort to the Switch themself, as they will still perish.

Gunslinger: Takes justice, and a weapon, into their own hands. The Gunslinger may kill one dragon per night.

Cameraperson (2): Is that a camera in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? Oh. It's a camera. Each night, these dragons may choose a target; in the morning, they will learn the names of all dragons who visited their target during the night. There are two Camerapeople in the game, who act completely independently and have no knowledge of each other.

Teacher's Pet: Somehow they've earned Frip's fickle favor. Each night, this dragon will receive an extra clue via PM. However, there is a 40% chance that this clue will be false.

Ballotstuffer: Has their thumb on the scale. Each night, this dragon may cast two extra lynch votes via PM.

Wallflower: Nobody even notices they're there. This dragon has an 80% chance of surviving all attacks on them, but only if they did not participate in the lynch vote the day before.

Contrarian (2): They're better at knowing what's false than what's true. Each night, these dragons may target another; in the morning, they will learn three roles that their target is not. There are two Contrarians in the game, who operate independently and have no knowledge of each other.

GHOST CHIPS

When a dragon dies in Frip’s Casino, the player controlling them is awarded ghost chips, which they may use if they rejoin the game.

The primary use of chips is to increase one’s chances of getting a desired faction or role on respawn. However, the chips may also be used by one’s living dragon to play certain games in the casino.

Players who do not currently have a living dragon in the game may also gift their ghost chips to another player.

earning chips

The actions that award ghost chips are as follows.
  • For each night their dragon survives, a player earns one ghost chip.
  • If playing an Innocent, a player earns 2 ghost chips when they correctly cast their lynch vote for a mafia member.
  • If playing a Hunter, a player earns 4 ghost chips when they vote for an Innocent and that Innocent is lynched.
  • More means of earning ghost chips coming soon

Remember, ghost chips are only tallied and awarded when a dragon dies.

spending chips

On respawn, a player may make the following expenditures.

5 ghost chips: increase their chance of respawning into a certain faction, Innocent or Hunter
- may spend an additional 2 ghost chips to further increase their chance
- not possible if only one faction's roles are available

12 ghost chips: increase their chance of respawning with a certain role
- may spend an additional 6 chips to further increase their chance

A living dragon may try their hand at Frip’s Lottery for 3 ghost chips, earning one of the following in-game prizes. Players will be informed of their winnings via PM.

  • Safety -- the dragon who receives this prize will be safe from all attacks during the following night, though other actions, like investigations or role swaps, will still succeed
  • Total immunity -- when a dragon receives this prize, any actions used on them the following night will fail, even benign ones
  • Free question -- the dragon who wins this prize may, via PM, ask Machine any question, not limited by his usual cards; however, he can still only answer with "yes" or "no"

SPAWNING AND RESPAWNING
(or, in more typical terms: sign-ups)

To enter Frip’s Casino, please PM myself (Lukra) telling me which dragon you would like to enter and, if a returning player, whether and how you would like to spend ghost chips.
(Alternatively, if you are not using ghost chips, you may sign up by posting in this forum thread.)

Players cannot be added to the game as soon as a current dragon dies, as everyone would then know that the new dragon had the recently deceased’s role. Instead, when the number of living dragons in the casino drops to 15 or fewer, new dragons will be checked in to the casino in groups of at least 3.

Players may sign up at any time; they will then be added to the game at the nex available check in.

Players may sign up as many times as they like, but must use a different dragon each time.

Important note:

Players who were previously Hunters may not respawn until all of the dragons who hunted alongside them have died. (Apologies, but bringing in an Innocent who remembers who the Hunters are breaks the game, while only bringing in former Hunters as Hunters makes their identities obvious.)
