Almost 2 years since we had a new breed. That makes me sad with waiting. :(

Well, if it's taking them this long, I bet this new breed will be spectacular!

I haven't been here for half that time... I'd like to see a new breed this year - something aquatic or buglike to be specific - but I guess the FR staff are pretty busy.
Edit: And like TheFeatherMage said, it'll probably be something really cool!

Hey, they're hiring some more artists (or they were), so there could be a possibility of getting one some time soon *wink*wink*

The entire FR crew's been working hella hard to improve overall site performance and add in things that will make creating future breeds a lot easier. I know people complained about how long the color wheel release took, but imagine how much longer it would've taken if there were more breeds to recolor. We now have a ton of fancy new genes and even more new colors, and if they've been working on even one new breed as they've been doing everything else (which sounds pretty logical) we might actually get a new breed by the end of the year. Fingers crossed...

Wow that's as long as I've been here... I honestly thought it hadn't been that long.

Don't worry about it. Silly Arcade's just telling magnetic field jokes for his own amusement.
There's been at least one other breed in the pipeline for a while - there were some very old shared pictures of one of the artists working on designing the capes, showing sillohuettes for 3 dragons that weren't in the game at the time (one was determined to be Coatls, the other was Nocturnes, while the third is a mystery still) - and presumably any art for those would be updated with the rest of the templates. The biggest hitch, as I understand it, is not so much genes - especially now with the standardization/template format to help speed things up - but the apparel.
There are literally hundreds of apparel items that have to be fitted to the male and female versions of the dragons. A few items, like hats, flowerfalls, glasses, and other small accessory types, can be easily reformatted/tweaked to fit a new dragon, but many many more cannot, and should be drawn by hand; for example, look at roundhorns on Male Nocturnes. I assume this is part of why they're trying to increase their art-staff, since their goal was at least one new breed a year, and they have fallen very far behind on that.
That being said, I really hope they're able to roll a new one out soon - I feel like my lair and projects are stagnating because, while new genes are cool, new breeds give a new canvas for them and I need something new to play with.
