Seriously , I can't keep anything over 100kt for more than a day , if I see some pretty apparel or skins I HAVE to buy it
i just... don't go on the AH. or if i do, it's only to list stuff, or to buy fodder. and i make sure to buy the ugliest fodder in breeds i dislike.
also just. never go into the scrying workshop. or the dressing room. ever.
edit: in all seriousness, try not keeping much treasure on hand. as soon as you have an amount that's easy to spend, vault it. and there's a way to make adblock block the "remove from vault" button, if you really need to restrain yourself.

Sell something big, get a ton of t, then have a decent income so you can afford these spending sprees without blowing all your t.

I shove everything I earn into my vault and avoid the coli unless I'm buying fodder to make more money, just to shove that money into the vault.
That being said, sometimes I get lost along the way...and my money gets lost too...if you know what I mean...

I just have a big item I'm saving for (Light sprite) and I know that everything I spend on other things is money I can't put toward that goal.
I also keep some spending money aside, for every 140kt I make, I get to spend 20kt on something else (though I usually stick that money in the vault)
If I don't feel like I NEED something, I don't buy it. No need to buy just for buying's sake, you know?

We like money more than stuff. It helps if you stay away from the AH too.
Though as long as you're not buying something consumable (genes, eliminate etc) and you're buying it at the cheapest it'll be you won't lose money. If you buy a new outfit or accent for a dragon there's nothing stopping you from selling it again later on when you're closer to whatever goal you have :D
