Is anyone else as disappointed as I am that the Spirit Animals turned out NOT to be Chinese zodiac-themed? I mean, I'm very happy that all eleven aren't going to be different rabbits (that would have been very boring), and I guess a lightning bug is cute (and the only appropriate choice other than an electric eel), but I got so hyped about the possibility of Chinese zodiac familiars that I'm seriously let down! Thoughts?

Well, to be fair, staff said that they would rather stay away from real world holidays and stuff (hence why they don't have an actual Halloween and stuff on here) so I never really believed the Chinese Zodiac thing ^^ I think it would be cool, but I'm also happy about how the spirits are based off the deities themselves. Now we have a literal Lightning bug (that's really a praying mantis, but shhh).

Please ping me if you find yourself in need of my attention. If not, chances are I'm not going to be aware that I have a response. Enjoy the rest of your hopefully lovely day c:
Tbh I'm glad that it wasn't Chinese Zodiacs, a lot of the zodiacs didn't seem to fit very well into any flights and some flights didn't seem like had a super fitting zodiac. Not that a bunny fits light super well.

But those are little things. Some familiars and a vista, which I'm pretty sure in lore just happen to be seasonal animals that show up around the time to reference said real world holidays. The only real world holiday that they really do is April Fool's.

I already follow the theory that spirit animals are based on Deities trait long ago, Chinese zodiac just doesn't make sense.
Actually, I expected all of them are rabbits, just like all the Guardians are bears.

I'm thinking based on Kung Fu fighting styles maybe though basing them on animals with traits that the deities have works too. I'd laugh if Plague's turned out to be a catfish though.

He sorta has claws just like the stormbreaker. Though I'm not too sure about the spirit of light.

I'd rather the animals be based on traits of the flight rather than the deity characteristics. I couldn't care less about the deities. (But I know I'm a minority in that respect.) So, like @Smoothy , I'm hoping Plague has a rat, not something Plaguebringer-inspired. I still think an electric eel would have been the best choice for Lightning.
I disagree about there being one animal left out had they done Chinese zodiac, because they could have either left out dragon or done dragon during NotN. I'm a big proponent that the NotN familiars should be more themed.
