I'm pretty new to this game, but it doesn't take long to recognize that the auction house in this game has some major flaws. For an example, I recently bought an unnamed hatchling in the auction house for 7.5KT (which was around the lowest prices available), intending to sell it for the average adult price of approximately 13kt once it grew up. Flash forward five days, and I go to place the now-adult dragon on the auction house, only to realize that adult dragon prices have sunk to the price at which I originally purchased the hatchling! Hatchlings similar in quality were now priced around 4 to 5KT, and if I understand the problem here these prices will only sink until a dom push or two are initiated, at which point scores of super cheap dragons are bought up as fodder to exalt. Then the cycle repeats.
This makes the auction house very hard to predict, but there are a few key aspects of the auction house that seem to drive this. The most prominent one I've noticed is the way sales are listed. The least expensive sales are shown fist, and the most expensive dragons are listed last. The problem this creates is if you don't match or undercut the current lowest price, your sale will be pushed back to the nth page, making it very unlikely that anyone will find your dragon and buy it.
I know it's a tall order, but I think the auction house needs a major update. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what that update would need to look like. Should dragons (and other items) be shown randomly? Or is there some other completely different method of ordering the sales that would better maintain values? Please feel free to offer any solutions you think might solve the problem.

The listings have been that way quite a while, and the last AH updates have been just months ago. It's not an issue that can be fixed, mostly because you're gonna have supply and demand changes regardless.

Most people looks for dragons based on their colors or genes, not so much their price, unless we talk about fodder

I think you're having a hard time reading the market because you are new to the game and don't know the cycles yet.

and to be honest your complantes feel like they're coming from a place of venting, You lost a deal, it happends! just wait it out.

Throw it up on the AH anyway! see what happends
it cant sell if you dont put it up for sale.
whats there to fix? player habbits?
Sorry but you're just mad bro. It happends XD;

Flight Rising's economy is prone to fluctuate, wether it be because of Dominance battles, new genes, breeds, apparel, etc- it's not really something that can be fixed. We have the item and dragon sales forums for those of us who would like their threads at the top and attract more users to buy their stuff.

For people looking for a dragon with specific colors, genes, and breeds- like Darkness said we very recently had an update to make it easier for users looking for specific dragons, the old AH was kind of a mess.

Honestly, of all the games I've played- FR probably has the best economy out of them all. I think updating the AH to what you've specified might make it agitating for some to navigate- every website I've used that has user listings always allows you to sort by lowest to highest, wether it be a car listing website, house realtors, or whatever, that's just how it works. The real market may not fluctuate that much, but I'd rather not lose my ability to find low-priced dragons and stuff.

If you really want to profit from selling dragons, start a hatchery! Breed for desirable color and gene combos and sell them for high prices. That would be the more stable way to sell, I'd suppose. I don't want to buy ugly dragons, and most fodder priced around 3-4k T are.

you bought that hatchling during a push, so naturally the average price would have been higher at the time. when no one's pushing, average adult price sits around 7-8kt. the prices didn't plummet, they just went back to normal.

when it comes to dragons, buying low to resell high usually isn't a viable moneymaker. buying low to level and exalt for a profit is better, especially when adult prices are settled back at 7-8k. and that's why it's good that we can list prices lowest to highest: so we can find the cheapest fodder to make the highest profit.

For starters, undercutting isn't to prevent being pushed back, it's because people like to save money so they'll buy the least expensive item. Seeing as everyone wants their item to sell, they'll undercut the next value.

But I feel like you're more concerned about the dragon market. Sadly, it's a buyer's market, not a seller's. We only get 200 lair spaces, and with each row bought, the prices for an expansion go up. This means that people are picky about what they want. In order to prevent taking up lair and server space, what we don't want is exalted. If I'm correct, about 75% of all dragons are exalted. When flights fight to be at the top of the DOM board, the prices for the fodder will go up, especially during a heated battle. When there is no major battle, prices for dragons drop a lot, due to there being little demand for fodder.

The prices for dragons aren't unpredictable, DOM watch tells you the upcoming pushes. Usually, if it's a conquest and they're a lot of hype, you'll see a spike in profits.
