I've been desperately saving gems for a light sprite. And earning them like crazy. Same with treasure. I sold off a ton of food only so I could use the T to buy more gems. At some point XD

the way I started saving money on this site was when I made a big sale. I sold a gen one for the treasure equivalent of 1.6kg (don't remember what the g:t ratio was at the time) and I ended up squirreling away 1 mil treasure in my Vault and using the rest as spending money. I keep it there in case I need some extra cash for a huge purchase (e.g. an accent I really need goes up on the AH so I need to take out 500kt to pay for it), and then I don't buy anything else until I fill it back to my normal amount again. it just takes self control to start saving, basically! ^^

Selling Baldwin ingredients during a festival can help! :D

Step 1: coli a lot
Step 2: sell everything
Step 3: spend all of your money on eggs

Buy stuff you don't intend to keep.
I buy stuff all the time and then resell it when people want it. Festival week? Sell Baldwin. Dom battle? Sell dragons. Accents and skins? Anytime I can afford them. Retired whatevers? Only when I can pick them up at a low price.
A lot of this only works because I keep track of price trends. The recent bump in unhatched egg prices because of the eclipse caught me off-guard but since I hadn't gotten around to selling any for a while I made mad money when I noticed.
I also have a daily savings goal that goes in my vault before I buy anything for the day. By constantly buying stuff I don't get the urge to dump all my savings on something--nearly everything becomes a rental.

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.
Have you checked the
Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in
5g?
Buy when things are cheap, sell them when prices rise.
Stock market, basically.
And sell excess of food/items from gathering.
Breed exalt fodder.
(And have lame taste in dragons and fall in love with cheap fodder.)
