They’re pure and brand new. Gen 1s are meant to be boring. The better the color combo, the higher the price

you can use genes to put patterns and such on them! since they're hatched, they just start with basic genes. most find them valuable because of their "pure lineage", meaning they have no parents. having lots of gened gen 1 dragons is sometimes like a status symbol.

Therefore, this means that getting a G1 with colors that work - or repeating colors - is incredibly difficult. Some people like the challenge of getting a super rare G1 with a good color combo, and those few who have achieved it rightfully flaunt them.

And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone, there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

@Caulico
I think the best thing about them is the extra element of challenge in making them look nice, you can often find hidden gems, I just love finding pretty but unusual colour combos, so this is perfect for me. I also find that you're more likely to have 'unique' looking dragons, and dragons you can transform and find the hidden beauty in (Plus, they aren't all boring! Most of my lair is gen 1, and I think I have a few good looking dragons!).

Definetly the challenge, as people above me have said. It's a lot easier to breed for the color combo and gene combo you want with existing dragons rather than attempt to hatch one anew. Hatching a GenOne with good colors means you really, really got good luck. Giving it expensive scrolls means you're rich or at least can stick to a plan very well. So all in all, they're a status symbol.

that sweet, sweet "none/none" in the lineage. perfect for lore.

also it's way more satisfying imo to rack up the money for scrolls and complete a project like that than just slap some dragons on a nest and pop out what you want.

I like them partly because the only dragons they can't breed with are their own direct descendants. They don't have ancestors, siblings, or cousins to taunt me with incompatibility. And as has been said above, the challenge and satisfaction of gene'ing them up.
