so I am a nerd taking AP Statistics and we are currently in our Experimental Design unit
and I keep playing Higher or Lower and thinking, I could totally design an experiment of this. What's the best method for playing to maximize profit? What would a statistical breakdown of data from, say, always choosing higher vs. always choosing lower vs. strategically choosing based on value look like?
So hello. FR users, I turn to you and ask for volunteers to help me collect data.
The Plan: I will randomly assign volunteers to one of three groups. Each group will play with a different strategy.
Before you play, you'll put all of your treasure into the Vault. You'll play the game using the strategy you were randomly assigned to, and when you're out of guesses you'll record how much treasure you got.
Each group will repeat this several times, depending on how many volunteers I get.
At the end you'll send all the data to me, I'll do some nerdy analysis, and then I'll show you graphs and stuff.
Or maybe I'll make a Google Sheets for you to input your data as you go? I don't know.
The Groups:
Group 1 - Always guess higher.
Group 2 - Always guess lower.
Group 3 - Guess strategically. If the face-up card is 2-6, guess higher. If the face-up card is 7-12, guess lower.
so, reply to this thread if you're interested, I guess? I'll subscribe, so no need to ping me.
Edit: Google Sheets is here! Feel free to add your username as a volunteer if you're interested.
