I joined quite recently, and I'm really enjoying Nature. There's a wonderful community, all my forum posts get replied to super-fast, and the aesthetic is fantastic. I'm already writing lore, and I'm in no hurry to change flights. There's just one problem.
I'm feeling the pull of the land of dark glitter, cookies, and DroolMama.
So, since I REALLY, REALLY, want to have a Shadow lair, but am in no hurry to give up my Nature one, (ARGH why can't we have two accounts) I was thinking about starting a second Shadow clan, even though I'm in Nature. Should I? I'm making a list of the things I would need to do and get to pull this off. I'll put it below.
1: Get a divider dragon that serves as a barrier between clans, who have no connection lore-wise. Preferably a male Snapper, since they honestly look ridiculous, who is also an eyeburner, BECAUSE WHY NOT.
2: Get at least 10 G1 eggs. Mostly Shadow, with a couple from other elements, and the rest being Noc or Bog. I would do a forum post series where you guys got to watch me hatch all of them. This is certainly the hardest objective to obtain.
3: Find someone who is willing to rent Shadow nests for free, because I can't pay 20k every time I want to breed. Good luck with that, Twizz.
4: Get visited by the Magical Money Fairy, because there is no way in heck I can pay for enough lair space to have two clans.
5: Get cool Shadow familiars and apparel.
So, what do you guys think? Do any of you have two clans? What's your advice?
EDIT: No need to ping, I'm subbed

Twizzlet If you've got time to max out Shock Switch every day or near to it, it'll help you with your funding! 75k a day, seven days a week is over 500k a week :D I think it sounds like a very fun idea, you should give it a shot. It'd make for a lot of fun lore :)

A lot of people have subset "clans" for aesthetic dragons or lore reasons! I'd say, if you wanna do it, go ahead and give it a go! :)
(I too feel the draw of the Shadow Flight...but it'll take a lot to drag me outta Arcane, for various reasons.)

"To see a maiden dance around the fire is not so strange;
but fire dances 'round the limbs of this uncommon maid!
Be brave enough to burn and you'll be brave enough to fly;
join your sister Solace as she lights the morning sky!"

Twizzlet oh this seems like a cool idea. I felt the draw to darkness too but I just decided to have some " bad eggs" in my light clan. Still working on writing my lore ideas down though. I wish you good luck on your endeavour.

Twizzlet : I love having an Arcane clan (Clan Adeptica), but eight of my dragons at the bottom of my page 4 (Rythorn through Dagian) make up my Fire clan, Clan Ashfeather. They were founded as an offshoot of Clan Adeptica last summer; I'm still chronicling the lore around how that happened in my Pinkerlocke thread. If I ever get around to filling out bios for all of Clan Ashfeather, they'll all have the scaly divider bars to distinguish them visually from members of Clan Adeptica, who get the swirly wrought-iron looking divider bars.

There's no rule that says your lair has to consist entirely of one clan, or even that any factions in your lair need to have any connection to eachother/your chosen flight at all, or even that there need to BE factions at all. You could literally just make every single one of your dragons a completely separate entity living their own stories scattered all across sornieth with little to no connection to/knowledge of eachother and no one can stop you. Taking the "Clan" format to heart in lore is significantly more optional than most people seem to think.
Honestly, lore-wise people generally seem more willing to disregard the number of deities and nature of magic itself than the Clan format concept. Which i find very confusing.

I’m in Shadow, and ten of my dragons are not part of my clan, but a small travelling group that uses it as a hub.
Moving isn’t necessary, for a shadow/nature clan or any other clan with different elemental factions and locations in lore. My friend used to own a mini Plague kingdom before cleaning out her lair, again. XD

Hmm. You can definitely rent nests for free, The Nest Network/The Coalition for Coordinating Eyes are around the forums somewhere...
Also, why not purchase (at least some) Shadow G1s? Same concept for less money (which gives you more money to gene them if you're interested), and you don't have to gamble on the colors. If you go the egg route, prices for Shadow eggs are probably going to go up soon because people might want to hatch an egg for Trickmurk Circus.
When I finally write up my lore, it'll be about two clans passive-agressively sharing the same territory.
