Flight Rising Discussion

Hello! I'm a newbie and have chosen Arcane as my flight, though while searching the forums I found that despite what I thought, I don't think I fit in with Arcane as much as I though. I'm having trouble deciding which of these 3 flights I should swap to, or if I should stay Arcane. The 3 other flights are

Plauge

Water

Lighting

Some information about each of the choices would be really helpful in deciding!

hello! im a droplet here! (a water member!)

we have alot of banks and groups in water's forums, although our forums are a bit slow. we do dominance every sometimes (giving all members of water flight bonuses). there is alot of stuff there to help out a new player! i think water would be a good fit but i would also consider staying in arcane for a bit though! as you only have one free flight change and you don't want to use it up to quickly, but i never used up mine yet so do as you please.

edit: you got super lucky on your random progen! he's a double and almost a triple, they are very rare!

I suggest you at least give Arcane a chance! You don't want to regret switching right afterwards, since it's gonna be 1500 gems (i'm pretty sure) and a 6 month wait at that point. That can be a long time if you don't like the flight you switch to.

That aside, murderpup here (plagueling!), and I can say that Plague is pretty awesome! We have a warm community despite our size, and there are friends to be had everywhere in our flight! We're very supportive, and there is always a plagueling there for you if you need it!

Dom wise, we've kinda fallen out of the scene as of late, we used to be one of the biggest powerhouses. Rest assured, we're still active, and we have plenty of fun events to participate in, from the newbies to the veterans.

The only thing I'd caution against is our aesthetic. It really isn't for everyone. If you like rot and ooze, we're the flight for you! Otherwise, I'd be careful. Most of us germs love it, but again, it isn't for everyone.

Plague is great, I love it so much here and it is my true home <3 Once a Plagueling, always a Plagueling!

@Gravitation hello from Lightning! I would also recommend giving Arcane a chance, however, sometimes you just know sooner rather than later a flight isn't for you. When I started to feel like Fire was a bad fit for me, I took a month to decide, which included doing research on the other flights I was looking at. I didn't want to pay 1500g to change flights again (I can afford that, but I'd rather spend it on something like a gene scroll). So a few things about Lightning: -We're not a huge flight and we're not a tiny flight. We are, in my opinion, "just right", to quote Goldilocks. -The forums are neither overwhelmingly active nor are they completely dead. There is a Lightning Discord (which I've been invited to but haven't used yet), and that's apparently pretty active. -People in Lightning are generally friendly and many of us are willing to offer advice and solidarity to other players. That said, people seem to be nice everywhere, FR is a really nice place, the nicest gaming community I've ever been in. -We profit push at least once a month. There are other flights that get into dominance more often than we do, namely Earth and Light. I mention this because dominance battles matter in terms of Marketplace discounts as well as discounts on lair expansions and nests, which are very helpful when you're a newer player starting out. We make dom often enough for me to be satisfied, and we usually have in-flight events as incentive to help with pushes. -Like Plague, Lightning has a unique aesthetic that isn't for everyone. In our case, Lightning aesthetic is kind of steampunk, cyberpunk, or Wild West punk. However, there is wiggle room for creativity - I lore my lair as being full of wizards, Jedi, and other magic-types who are being studied FOR SCIENCE, so I can get away with them having silks, flowerfalls, etc. Generally speaking though people in Lightning are pretty chill and nobody's gonna kick you out if your aesthetic doesn't line up just so. But it's not entirely inescapable. We had a Secret Santa thing over the December holidays. -Lightning has a Gene Support Center (pay X amount per week, get on waiting list for gene scrolls), a Baldwin bank (donate mats/cauldron time, receive mats/cauldron time), a soup kitchen for starving derg emergencies, and a level 25 rental program. -I run the Lightning LGBTQ+ Community Hub, and we have a sizeable presence of LGBTQ+ Sparks. -We have a ton of subspecies, and we have a thread where people can submit their ideas for new subspecies. -We have a pretty good sense of humor, especially about the Boss. Thank your for the information, though i'm still struggling with the fact that I love them all, I think I will stay in Arcane for a month and see then, though if we're going with what me as a human would choose, i'd rule out water due to the fact I can't really swim...

As for FrozenBarioth's edit - May you please tell me what a progen is?

@Gravitation Progens are the two dragons you start the game with. The custom dragon and then the one of the opposite gender that start you off

If you really wish to leave, so be it, but please give Arcane a chance. By your UN, you fit right in with Arcane’s theme. A lot of us are really nice and are willing to help you around, as we are a big Flight.
(I even have 3 dragons I can give you for free)
We have plenty of organizations that will help you expand your lair, get battlestones for Coliseum fighting dragons, and get level 25 dragons ready for you to make money with.
We have a discord and a slack, and I would be happy to help you get to either. Plenty of members are on both and they are very friendly.
If you ever need anything (how to do something, tips, etc.), I would be more than happy to help.
