Exactly what the title says. I was making a list of Emperor traits while considering some lore ideas and decided to share. Feel free to voice your own observations as well!
The following is what we can learn from the short story Raising A Family. Please note that since we have no other Emperor to cross-reference with and thus no way to confirm whether this applies to all Emperors or just the one, these are observations about what an Emperor CAN be, not what they MUST be.

Because who needs sleep when you could write an essay on giant zombie dragons?

RAISING A FAMILY
The following is what we can learn from the short story Raising A Family. Please note that since we have no other Emperor to cross-reference with and thus no way to confirm whether this applies to all Emperors or just the one, these are observations about what an Emperor CAN be, not what they MUST be.
How They Think:
- They don't know/realize what's happened to them, or at least don't register it as something bad.
- They are sentient but have a simplified view of the world.
- They are not hateful nor actively malicious, but simply see other dragons as prey to be consumed.
- The heads think of each other as "siblings", rather than a part of themself.
- They are able to feel joy and wonder.
How They Work:
- Three-headed Emperors exist.
- Each head has its own will.
- The minds may be in different states of decay.
- One head controls the body.
- They can have multiples of other body parts, such as wings. Source:
Quote:“Look at its wings, both sets are in tatters...” Gleam tried to capture details of the creature’s appearance to her memory.
- They have circulation, and thus presumably a heartbeat. Source:
Quote:While giving them a chance to regain circulation, I turned away from my brother.
- They have an urge to feed.
- They do not seem remember who they were in life, aside from fragments such as their family name.
OTHER SOURCES
Encyclopedia, Imperial Dragons:
- How Emperors form is not common knowledge among non-Imperials.
Quote:The treatment of the sick and the burial rites among Imperial dragons are something of a mystery to other dragon species.
- Emperors can have up to 11 heads.
- They can be over 100 meters long.
- Each head can wield its own elemental magic.
Voices:
- The Lightweaver regrets the creation of Imperials, presumably because of the recent Emperor rampage.
Lightweaver wrote:I see the truth. Though it wounds my heart, the Imperials were a mistake that must be rectified.
UNANSWERED QUESTIONS
... In which I list things I've thought about but not found lore on. - Do they need to feed to survive?
- Do they die if their circulation fails (ie if their heart stops)?
- Do they still have a concept of language and/or understand Draconic?
- Do they forget their past gradually or instantly?
Again, feel free to add your own thoughts. I hope my notes have been helpful to someone!
