Dear Mrs. Lightweaver,
It has come to my attention that you believe that an entire species of dragon was a "mistake."
Now, I want you to remember you have an entire clan of natural born fighters that worship you as a deity. In fact, they are known for their fighting ability.
You have managed to anger most of the users of your own flight, and many others, as well.
The Imperial dragons are an important part of this land for several reasons, three of which I will defend below. Imperials are imperative to the land's economy, lore, and serve as a symbol of power in every flight.
First of all, Imperial dragons make up a large portion of dragons in the land. I did the math, and for just active males:
There are 99,594 Bogsneaks, 389,546 Coatls, 341,170 Faes, 484,139 Guardians, 592,391 Imperials, 263,567 Mirrors, 285,549 Nocturnes, 253,517 Pearlcatchers, 178,992 Ridgebacks, 450,050 Skydancers, 101,128 Snappers, 337,815 Spirals, 271,134 Tundras, and 307,368 Wildclaws. Out of these numbers collected here, by Everyone , there are 4,025,105 male, unexalted dragons in Flight Rising this moment. Which species has the largest number, you may ask? Well, that'd be Imperials. You're upsetting a whole 0.01471740488757436% of the population of dragons. That may not seem like a lot, but those dragons belong to very angry leaders, who will defend any Imperial in their clan.
This also means that more and more imperials are being born everyday, compared to species of equal or higher rarity. As you know, Sornieth has a very demanding economy, which involves the movent and selling of dragons. Without this ""small"" percentage of dragons, we are losing a major chunk of our economy. In fact, out of the 65,901 dragons and hatchlings in the auction house currently, 11,000 are Imperials. That's nearly 17% of all dragons openly sold at this moment. That's over double the amount if all dragons were sold at exactly the same rate (100%÷14 dragons=~7%). Without the Imperials in Flight Rising, the Auction House serves the risk of crashing hard.
Now, the Flight Rising lore is very intricate and detailed, and the Imperials play a major role in the creation of this land. "Imperials were Light's first children, an amalgamation of bone, blood, and the shed essence of the Lightweaver - excavated from ancient battle sites of the First Age. This reclaimed essence was a finite resource; no new imperials have been shaped by the gods in a millennia, though the species has no difficulty replenishing its numbers. These dragons have incredibly unpredictable lifespans. Some individuals live only a decade, while others thrive for hundreds of years." Created by the leftover essence of the Lightweaver is a large title to carry, and carried only by the Imperials of Light. "Pearlcatchers are conscious of the fact that their patron did not create them with the grandeur of scale of their predecessors." Even Pearlcatches, supposedly children of Light, are aware that Imperials are a being unparalleled to them. With them in our lore, we not only show that they serve as a very specific advantage against the Shade, but also are a spawn of a deity- One that clans get little to no contact with.
Finally, Imperials are a symbol of power to every flight. Plague can admire the brutality of the species, Shadow has a reason to thrive, Light has a powerhouse; You name it. Imperials are one of the most common breeds used as Coliseum fighters, which are vital for any flight to win dominance over eachother (which also boosts economy) or the well-hated Beastclans. With Imperials hulking size and beauty, they tower over their enemies and are vital to moral and power of every flight.
Now, it has come to my attention that Emporers could be a threat. No dragon has ever died in any clan lair, and (supposedly) when a dragon is exalted by it's clan, it is not dead. For reference, here is the official information that we have: "Emperor dragons are danger on a battlefield where many Imperials have fallen. These ghastly behemoths are a mindless monstrosity, fused from the bodies of fallen Imperials with some specimens known to have reached over 100 meters in length. They may possess up to 11 heads - the larger the emperor, the more heads it will possess. Each head is capable of wielding the element of the dragon that spawned it. These monsters destroy without thought and absorb elemental energy from the creatures and landscape surrounding it. Emperors are not to be trifled with. It may take the combined efforts of many clans to bring down an aberration of this magnitude; these dangerous opponents are one of the few creatures that may draw the gods from their shrines and onto a battlefield." Now, as this is only a threat on the battlefield, and dragons can't die in their home lair, this seems to be a fault that will not threat anyone besides those who are fighting. There is a simple solution to this: Don't send your exalted Imperials onto the battlefield. Someone has to hunt for food, no? Also in the lore, it is explicitly stated they could have magic. They could work "on the sidelines" of the battlefield, far from all of the physical battles-Using what they have to fight away from the danger. In a land of constant hand to hand combat, a mage could be the perfect secret weapon. And, with all of the natural mages (Fae, Tundra, Snapper, Pearlcatcher, Skydancer, Coatl) being much smaller than any Imperial, they boast a unique advantage.
In conclusion, it is best that you do not challenge the necessity of an entire species of dragons, especially one of the most popular. By doing so, you are suggesting ruining economy, status, and lore.
Thank you, from Everyone.
I am joking
