Flight Rising Discussion

Hi guys! I'm so sorry to post this - I know there have been a ton of them lately. I didn't see recent discussion about these two specific flights, however, but rather more broad "convince to switch!" type posts.

I'm interested in switching flights to either Water or Arcane. I've read a lot of the more recent threads and it seems like these two flights have the community I'm looking for. What I'm most interested in are decently active forums or offsite chat where a somewhat awkward writer and occasional roleplayer might fit in.

I am interested in all sorts of things - D&D, RPGs, collecting as many pink dragons as possible, Doctor Who, Supernatural, horror (stories, games, movies, etc.), binge-watching YouTube videos about snakes/makeup/horror games, kpop... etc. I also love writing and am working on developing my clan lore and getting it up and running.

I've also read that Water and Arcane both have "support threads" or groups for people struggling with depression and things of that nature - is that true? Have you found it easy to find like-minded people in your flight?

I'd love a friendly community I can chat with as I continue to obsessively hoard all the cute and stained dragons.


To any Windies who see this, there's nothing wrong with our flight! I'm just looking for something new... so please don't take offense lol.

Water. They have newspaper, newbie threads, and a very organized and calming community overall.

I say Water too! Arcane flight may be about the unknown, but Water flight is still the single most mysterious flight out there. Water is severely underrated.

Of course I'm bias, but maybe Arcane might suit you best! We have all that Vyxen mentioned. Also on our discord there is a separate roleplay server, which might suit your want for roleplaying. Lots of writers too!

A newspaper would be cool! Wind used to have one, I wish it was still around because it's such a fun idea. I am so tempted by the pink. @_@

Water is very relaxed. The forums can sometimes be a bit of a trickling stream at times, but the support is always there. There are many groups that offer support and other things. I've been in water since I first joined in 2013 and have never had the urge to switch flights.

If you like pink and space puns, then Arcane might be a good fit for you! I've only ever been in Arcane, but I think both flights offer similar things, so it's really what kind of atmosphere you want. Water is definitely more calm (partly due to its smaller size in comparison to Arcane), while Arcane is a little more active and "meme-y".

We have tons of different organizations for all sorts of things -- for example, support groups for mental illness + disabilities, writers' and artists' groups, LGBTQ+ groups -- and have tons of forum games and discussions to take part in! Our dominance is a little lacking, though well organized, due to our size, so if you want to get dominance a little more then you might want to consider a different flight.

In Arcane we also have a Writer's Guild and several threads for lore writing and such!

I personally have found it easy to find like-minded people in Arcane, but I can't speak for everybody.

Thank you for the information about Arcane! It does sound like a great fit, and I live for the pink, honestly. I am not worried about Dom... like, at all, lol. I forget it's a thing half the time. I'm a lot more into chatting and breeding cute hatchlings. :)

I've been in water since the olden days, and yes the forums CAN be slow, but everyone is super nice, supportive, and fun! We work really hard for dominance and try to make everything enjoyable! We have daily updates in "Message in a Bottle" (newspaper) we have a wonderful food bank run by Lionfish, we have lots of support groups
And when we think something is funny we kinda go crazy with it XD We also love sharing our breeding projects and helping each other out!
