TOPIC | Do familiars have elements?
So I've been noticing elemental colors in familiar eyes. For example a buttercup strangler looks like it has a light element because of it's yellow eyes. A glowing pocket mouse has orange eyes which makes it look like a fire element familiar. And then an Emerald Cave jewel has purple like a shadow element dragon does... This brought up the thought of familiars having elements. So...does anyone know? Is it just a coincidence or is it intentional for when they are wild and in the coliseum so they could have elemental spells? The eye color of familiars isn't influenced by magic like a dragon's is, although they do align with elements. It's a weaker association but one nonetheless. There's not an absolute correlation but the familiar's overall color/appearance tends to reflect it. The Buttercup Strangler is Arcane, the Glowing Pocket Mouse is Light, and the Emerald Cave Jewel (Emerald Jewel in the coli) is Lightning.

This could, of course, mean nothing in lore and was just implemented into the coli to have more diversity in opponents.

the staff has confirmed somewhere that their eye color isnt determined by their element
i like to think that they do have elements and use them

i don't think eye color determines element in familiars. if you check in the coli, lots of familiars are in elements that don't line up with their eye color. and some don't have an element at all.

buttercup stranglers are in the arcane flight.

glowing pocket mice are in light.

and emerald cave jewels are lightning.

interesting... Their eyes don't match up with a corresponding element?
interesting... Their eyes don't match up with a corresponding element?
nope. some might though, like with [item=Frosted Pocketmouse] which is in Ice though it's a little bit of a darker blue there. even if the eyes match it doesn't particularly mean anything special. can't think of any others that match off the top of my head.

As mentioned above, regular creatures aren't as affected as magic as dragons, so their eye color doesn't necessarily reflect element. Sometimes it's their predominant colors, but there are exceptions.
