ive seen a few guides but none really explain it. or at least none explain it in a way i understand. xp
how do you look it up on a dragon?
is it a genetic thing? can it change down the bloodline?

XXX means all 3 colors on a dragon are the same!
XYX means the primary and tertiary are the same, but the secondary is another color.
XYZ means they're all different colors.
For breeding, the colors are "between" (inclusive) the parent's colors. You can use sites like
this to make breeding cards that show the color possibilities.

XXX, XXY (and its variations), and XYZ just refer to a dragons colour combination.
So for instance, if X = orca then:
XXX = orca / orca / orca
XXY = orca / orca / Y (where Y is any colour)
XYX = orca / Y / orca
and so on.
XXXs are sometimes known are "triples" and XXY/XYX/XYY are "doubles" since the former describes a dragon with the same colour for all its genes while the latter describes a dragon with the same colour for two of its genes.

There's no special genetic component, it's just a fanmade term for matching color combinations. XXX/XXY/etc. dragons are bred the same way as any other dragons, by color range.

ooooohhhhhh!!!!
haha oh goodness that makes so much sense now that youve all explained it. haha i thought it was the way the genes layered or something.
so its exact colors and not just the same general color, right? like LavenderxLavender rather then PurplexPurple, purpme meaning orchid, lavender, grape, any type of purple.

PaperPony, don't worry, I was really confused about this when I first joined too.
It's exact colours, yes.

Yep it's exact colors. If a dragon has close/similar colors (Orchird/Purple/Orchid) It'll still be an XYX.
