I've been here for two-ish months, so the only relatively big updates I saw where the new genes, which means this is the first actually big thing I see on this site. the first day, with so many people (myself included) expressing how rightfully disappointed they were in the poor execution of this idea, I really hoped we would hear of at least a planned solution any time soon.
Now the event is ending and the staff still hasn't said anything, and I really am starting to lose my trust in them.
Has anything like this happened before? Do you think the staff will really listen to us and try to fix this?

The staff are always lurking, listening, and
working. If they are going to come up with a fix, it will take time for it to be implemented. They don't always say when they're working on something, since there is a LONG list of features and bugs they have to deal with. It's only been a few days, so I'm not at all worried, and I've been here for 5 years as of the anniversary.
As a game dev myself, I understand that sometimes it's easier to just work on the solution thing and release it later rather than constantly trying to firefight in defense of what has been done, which would delay actually fixing the problem.

...what needs to be fixed exactly? I love everything about this update except for the multi-gaze eyes looking slightly sloppy.

Might be talking about a) lack of reverting eyes back to common and b) the dismal chance of the rarer eyes in the vials.
The first point is the main concern for most people however, including myself, but I'm more calm about it than a lot of people.

The first Night of the Nocturne was just as big of a debacle, if not worse because of server overload. Eggs and scrolls were incredibly rare, and at the time nobody was sure if or how the event would repeat itself. People were stressed from the holidays and the instability and predictability of the event.
There was a poll or something afterwards for people to input their complaints and suggestions and whatnot, because the staff did realize the event wasn't as fun as they wanted it to be. However, at the time I didn't see much communication either before or after the poll until the next NotN, when they implemented the changes. Of course that was a while ago and I want the most vocal even then, so maybe I'm misremembering.
The staff are not cruel or willfully ignorant, but they don't have a good track record with communication during a crisis (or whatever this counts as) which is honestly when you really need it. People are upset or confused, and without staff acknowledgment we just work ourselves into a frenzy worrying about "what if". Even a little tidbit of "we see this is not being received well and we're looking into changes" would be something to let people know they're being heard.
I think that's FRs biggest weakness, honestly - they don't want to commit to an action or imply they're going to do something until theyre 100% sure, but then they don't say anything during the decision process and everyone else is left in the lurch. It's annoying for a normal day, but on big, limited time events like these it's pretty debilitating.

EeveeDream Ah okay, yeah it would be nice to be able to revert eyes back to common! I have a few dragons I'd like to use vials on but daren't in case it irreversibly ruins them (they were very expensive to gene up).
With the chances of getting the rarer eyes though, I think it's supposed to be like that? Like those eyes are ones that you'd be very lucky to get rather than something realistic to aim for.

I actually had a conversation with a friendo about this the other day, I'm sad people have over-reacted over the eyes and I almost feel like the real "kicker" is people feel entitled to more information and behind the scenes stuff than we really are.
Other games/game companies and so on tend to just do stuff, doesnt' always mean everyone has to like the change. To be fair, I'm certain the real issue is people don't like change in general, but they REALLY don't like change they "feel" they had no say or weight in.
This eye thing, had it gone over better, could have easily been a segway into more content for us that people would REALLY like, like additional types of wings/tails/ and so on. What if wing types came out and you could have "tattered" wings or a bifergated tail on a dragon that might not have had one? With how... almost cruel the player base has been over eye changes, it's a bit of slap in the face. :') Especially for a player base practically frothing at the mouth for more content from a rather small team of folks.
The idea of a little additional RNG (which for a player base that's 70% older players with at least a year or more under their belt, they have totally full lairs for what they want, no more room and all their wishlists are fulfilled and they have nothing to "strive for" outside of really weird stuff, like people looking to buy content that's insanely hard to get (i.e. imperial scrolls etc.). The lifespan of a gene before the dragons start selling cheaply (30 gems or less) is about 2 months.... Content has to start someplace. Art can always be updated, edited or played around with to satiate the player base, nothing about this has totally upended everything permanently XD.
People have to start being a tad more open minded though, this is suppose to be a breeding game. It's SUPPOSE to be hard to acquire the "perfect" ideal. Exalting is a CORE mechanic of the game and is suppose to be a focal point of motivation. Exalting your dragons that don't sell is an encouraged part of it, adding this RNG increases those things.
We either get new content, try it out, and fuss over it and work through it, or the game stagnates and dies out. I know which scenario I'd rather have.
