I’m very tempted to vacation to plague, but I would definitely (probably) go back to shadow and I’m wondering how difficult it is to save up for the change back if you don’t spend all your gems like me.
Do most people find that they can save up the gems before the cooldown is over (including converting treadure to gems) or does a 6 month vacation usually turn into a longer one?

When I am not trying to save gems, it is very slow going to save them, but i find it is very, very easy to save up 1500 gems in even just a week or two when I try to. I've had the gems saved for my move tomorrow since January and I moved to Wind halfway through December.

I think when I took my vacation in Earth I saved up the return gems beforehand just in case, but honestly if you can coli OK and you're either super dedicated or able to split-screen so it's not boring it should be easy to save up in 6 months.
I don't tend to convert currency even when I primarily need gems - I sell almost everything except dragons and junk familiars for gems in the first place, and then alongside hoardselling other junk it all seems to balance out nicely.

If you're really worried about getting back ASAP then stash away 1500g before switching.
