If fire eggs alone are too hot to touch, incubating them in lava might be overkill.
And if ice eggs' shells are covered in frost, wouldn't incubating them make them all melty...? Unless dragons don't actually touch/warm the eggs to incubate them.
A smoldering, unhatched fire egg. It is almost too hot to hold and is rocking back and forth constantly. Its cragged surface is pulsing with embers.

Unhatched Ice Egg
Dragon Eggs
A razor sharp egg crusted in hoarfrost. It is frigid and heavy, encasing a ferocious creature inside. A single crack is snaking its way along the shell.

Because you need to turn them over from time to time. Otherwise only the hatchling's butt would develop properly.

Even lava is not hot enough to incubate fire eggs. You need something hotter. Fire magic? Nah. A metal slide from a playground after it has been in the hot summer sun for a few hours? That might already work!

Fire eggs need to be turned. For ice eggs "incubation" would be more accurately "refrigeration".

[color=FF8000]I’m slightly concerned for people which leave their nests unincibated for weeks.
