I agree with @Emery and @Firestar it just doesn't seem like something you would do for profit, but to retire an unwanted dragon or strictly for dominance points and fun.

I find it kind of disturbing to put a reward on the exalted dragons because then people will just do it for that profit and not even bother seeing if someone else might like their dragon or consider what else it has to offer.

I'm not sure if I will ever exalt a dragon, it depends on how much I don't like it and if no one wants it... As for the ones I give away/sell, I'd like to think they get good homes to people who appreciate them and not just toss them away or sell them for more than I had on them (which is the case for one of mine, but I doubt it will ever sell for what they're asking, lol).

I'm fine with this though (exaltation), it's optional so I can't complain.

I don't personally like dominance at all for the reasons @WolfTears lays out.
It just seems like someone tried to fit a way of throwing away dragons into the canon of the site.

But on the other hand, dragons are at a risk of becoming extremely deflated.
A week and a half ago, someone said there was no way basic dragons would deflate to 15k. Yet here we are.

I don't want it to get to the point that dragons are worthless. Yet I feel like that could definitely happen if people don't have an incentive to exalt.

@TechyConversant I agree. I understand that the amount you get for exalting a dragon should be lower than what you'd get for selling a dragon (since you want to encourage trading among the players) but I think the amount you should get should be adjusted; especially since it appears the higher the level the dragon; the less per level you'd get. I got 5273 treasure for a level 10 dragon. I would like to know how many points she counted for towards the dominance table compared to a level 1 and see if its actually worth leveling for a dominance standpoint or if it'd be best to just sacrifice a bunch of hatchlings.

If adjusting the amount for exalting isn't adjusted; I think perhaps increasing the rewards for getting dominance might be worth looking at.

@Rotring
Yes, It definitely would happen.

There's 300 pages of dragons in the AH, and some players have already hatched more than their lairs can ever hold. There's simply not enough combined lair space in the game for unlimited number of dragons, so exalting is completely unavoidable.

I guess the question is... what would be a good base price for basic dragons? Some players are already buying them for 18k just to exalt them, so I don't expect the prices to drop much further. Which means that newbies can still make some profit from selling their first clutch, and can afford to buy those cheapest dragons after a while of gaming.

So I think the current system is fine. There shouldn't be any further incentives for exalting, unless the AH prices keep deflating.

@Zaltys
I don't know, I think dragons could definitely dip below 10k.

Right now, exalting is new and fun. Every flight wants to "prove themselves".
But eventually, especially if they don't increase the rewards, I think people will be sick of it.

I definitely think in that case, dragons will continue to fall and fall.

There needs to be more incentive for exalting a leveled dragon, really. It doesn't have to be anything insane, just maybe some sort of sliding scale of rewards. I was on the fence about exalting some of my dragons for the benefit of my wonderful Water Flight, but this sort of kills it for me. Two of the fairground games don't work for me so selling hatchlings or loot from monster battles are my only ways to make any sort of money. It's been slow going for me for awhile and while exalting shouldn't be a way for someone to "flip" dragons and make money, it should be worth a little more for time and effort put into the dragon being exalted.

The population of dragons is exploding, it boggles the mind. And there's only more to come even with long cooldowns and such. Exalting is a great way to clear out the market, so to speak. Maybe 1k per level earned? A higher chance of extras for every ten levels your dragon has? Some kind of buff that lasts for a very, very brief amount of time or extra turns at gathering the day after you exalt?

Not all of these ideas are feasible but maybe something could be adjusted!

Well, I hope you're right, @Zaltys.

I think most people, myself included, are a bit too lazy or apathetic to take full advantage of the market discount. So that's not a great benefit to us.

Maybe the rich entrepreneurs who do care about it will be enough to keep dragon prices high, though.

There, I went and made a quick 12k playing Runestones on and off this morning. Next to zero effort. How is this suppose to compare to the time and battlestones put into a level 25 dragon? It simply doesn't.

[/quote] @Firestar This. So much this. I have been having trouble find a breeding partner for one of may dragons, because it's and "ugly" color combo... and I got to thinking while searching the AH last night, how many dragons have/will be exalted that are exactly, or extremely close to what I need? Right now, each unique color combination is so rare, that to make exalting dragons directly more worth it (via instant rewards rather than dominance) will make it that much harder to get color combos I want. I am perfectly fine with an increase in Dominance rewards. I personally have never exalted a dragon (except for once when I was in my "What does this button do?" stage) specifically because I don't think Dominance rewards are worth giving up a potential color combo.
