1) When people pay tons of money for expensive gene projects that look amazing, and then cover 90% of said beautiful dragon with apparel so you literally can’t even see anything but their legs and belly (and don’t breed the dragon, either). And entire genes that you paid so much money to get are covered up and you only really see their tert ???
Edit: Not that I don't think tasteful apparel isn't fantastic or doesn't make the dragon sometimes pop even more! I just don't understand why there's so much money poured into genes that are basically nonexistent after the apparel.

To each their own, but I agree, if I make a pretty dragon I want ppl to be able to see said pretty dragon. I also want him to pass on his/her prettiness. Like this guy:

Cost me a ton to finish but I feel he's well worth it, and his outfit doesnt hide him too much. Also been breeding him with another dragon of mine.

#UnnamedIsValid
Unnamed dragons need love too! There is no shame in having unnamed permas, having dragons with unnamed parents and/or offspring, or exalting unnamed dragons! Leaving dragons unnamed is a perfectly valid playstyle!
she/her or they/them
As a (mostly) G1 collector who loves dressing my dragons up... I don't really get it, either. :'D I only smother my dragons in apparel if their colours are kind of "meh", since the apparel helps make their so-so colours look better.
It's kinda weird to me when people have super-expensive XXY G1 Wasp/Bee/Stained Wildclaws/Coatls that they totally bury under apparel, though. Like, if you can't even see the dragon's genes anymore except for maybe its wingtips and toes, why spend that much money? Maybe I'm not meant to understand, haha.
I agree with you, I spend MOOOOOOOOONNNNNTHSSSSS trying to get this dream derg

and now that I have him, I refuse to put any clothes on him
on the flip side, I do think clothes can help bring attention to a dragon's natural beauty like Floof and Pixie here

But of course, the only time when I would full out cover a dragon in apparel is either A) fan derg
or
B) they're butt ugly, but I'm attached to them and clothes make them look cool
But yeah, honestly, I don't understand why people would spend so much money on a dragon they're just going to bury with clothes later, and would look identical with easier colors/genes

Sometimes the genes are meant to be the star of the show, and sometimes the clothes are supposed to be the star of the show, with the genes as a backup dancer or something.

Bruh I do it and I also don't fully get it. Just nice to slap on that aesthetic ya know.

to show of how much money you have
But really I do try to show off my dragons colors and genes if it's a combo i'm really proud of. I'm just a guilty of covering up a dragon so i'm not really one to talk haha

Same. Heck, I consider some of my own dragons overdressed, but then I see how some people dress theirs and mine feel practically naked. |'D If a dragon needs feathery wings, a wolf headdress, a wooly coat, a kelpie mane, two full sets of armor, and a pile of silks to look passable, maybe just ditch it and buy a nicer one, yknow? (Sentimental attachments notwithstanding ofc.)

I think it might be a combo of
1. this dragon is gorgeous
2. this outfit is gorgeous
so logically, if you combine them = double gorgeousness? Sadly it doesn't often work that way. Sometimes I feel you need dragons for the outfits, and dragons for the genes :P
