i'm facing a little dilemma; i have a fandragon who i got and gened late last year and absolutely love; i think he's nearly perfect. i didn't even have to breed him, i found him as is! but today i was browsing the ah and found a gen1 that... might actually be better. the wings are actually a bit closer, it has light eyes instead of ice (light is a lot closer to my goal of wind/nature and glowing doesn't look too different than wind), and is a gen1! but... i feel so weird about replacing a dragon i love. it's almost as if i'm betraying it (which now i realize is a pun and i'm laughing too much). additionally, the one i have isn't a gen1, whose dad's name is "Joe" and it makes for a lot of fun jokes because the character is so edgy. but... i feel torn and i can't decide
on the one hand, gen1 with slightly better wings and eyes, but a newer dragon (i tend to like older dragons even if it's a year's dif), and i'd have to replace this one. on the other hand, i already have this one gened and he's been around, but there are a tad few things that aren't exactly perfect
what would you do in my situation? have you been in one like this before? if so, what did you do? i'm constantly torn because i've never replaced a dragon before (i've even taken inn other peoples' replaced dragons) and i'm way too sentimental ;v; any input is greatly appreciated!

I replace dragons periodically, that said, if you are this attached why not keep the old one as a fodder breeder?

I totally gave a lvl 25 dragon to an oof raffle when I found another that had the same colours and genes I didn't wanna afford for the other one. =P
Worked out SO much better for her as a breeding partner.
Maybe a tiny little regret from nostalgia, but I have older and more valuable dragons than she was so honestly.. meh.
If you really don't wanna let go yet, keep both and replace when you're more attached to the new one! xD

Keep the old one and maybe change the character to become an original character of yours and then get the new one for the fandragon? ^^

Ever since the new colorwheel came out, I've been in the process of replacing a lot of my old dragons. As an example this gal

Despite the old gal being a gen one, level 25 with eliminate that I gened myself, I intend to get rid of her once the new Cam is fully leveled and stoned ( which might take a fair while for an elim to drop and me [i]not[/i] to be tempted by money ). Preferably I'd want her, and a lot of the other dragons I'm replacing in this fashion, to go to good homes, but if they can't they can't...
I'd say get the new dragon, spend the money to gene it up, and hang onto both for a little while! See who you really like having around more. And then, when you do decide which one you'd rather keep, if it still feels like betrayal to the other see if you can find them a loving home to go to, and maybe leave a link to the other dragon's page in tribute.

I do this all the time. I replace bred dragons with Gen 1s and if applicable,I plan to replace XYZ gen1s with double gen 1s. Heck, I even plan on replacing regular imps with gen 2 imps. I'm usually not attached to the dragon itself but to the character I make for them.
