TOPIC | Guardians(more watery than you think)

Everyone is constantly complaining about Guardians, saying that they aren't watery enough. Slow down, you need to actually base what you see off of the physics of these amazing dragons. Let us start with the females. "Not watery enough"? I'd say that's not the truth. Check out that wing posture. That gives me the feeling that they can easily flatten their wings against their body, letting them easily glide through the water without friction. Get it? Got it? Good. Now, let's add Glimmer. Look at the most highlighted part of this gene, the stomach. It is ridged, and perfect for smimming and hunting underwater. It possibly helps out the same way that a shark's fin works. Next, check out the face fins. That continues to help with the effort to glide through the water, adding grace to this already graceful breed. The fins might also be protecting gills... The fins on the legs also are for the same purpose. They probably also help propel through the water. The watery features on the male pose are quite hidden, and stand out less. This might be another reason that they are mistaken. But check out that tail. It is smooth, and the spines on the guardian stop growing there. This probably works like a shark tail works. Now, tell me why you cannot tell that Guardians are a water breed? I hope that now you will find that Guardians are more watery than you think. Now that you can imagine them swimming through the water alongside many other sea creatures, can you ever get that image out of your head? Keep in mind that they also look a lot like Seawings(shoutout to WOF fans)!
Mm, I imagine Gaurdians swimming like crocodiles, tucking their legs and wings against their body and moving their body side to side to propell themselves through the water.
Thank you for sharing a moment of your time. :)

Thank you, I really needed this.

(I have also now realized that they look like SeaWings, so thank you.)

#UnnamedIsValid
Unnamed dragons need love too! There is no shame in having unnamed permas, having dragons with unnamed parents and/or offspring, or exalting unnamed dragons! Leaving dragons unnamed is a perfectly valid playstyle!

she/her or they/them
I’ve actually never heard of people complaining about this before! To me, Guardians have always looked like a water breed, probably because of the fans on their legs and cheeks. Plus their massive jaw and ridged form make them seem almost crocodilian.

I love the analysis! It’s cool to be able to pick out all the little details in the artwork. FR artists are best artists!

Only reason why I don't consider Guardians as a Water breed is because Dragonart Evolution listed them as Frost Dragons (so Ice). To be honest, I consider them quite like leopard seals or orcas considering both their origin and their biology. Like, aquatic but better in the cold and ice.

They do kind of look like a water breed once you look closer at them...they just don't look like a water animal at first sight. I just think it's the face that throws me off, mostly the small eyes that don't make me think 'water breed'.

I could actually see them better as Ice dragons for some reason.

@Gracekit See those ridges under the wing that look kinda like ribs? In water elemental guardians, those are gills! In guardians of other elements, they're just pronounced ribs. Staff answered this in an old Q&A though I can't find it anymore. It's just like The Tidelord's rib gills! Nobody wants to tell you why discipline is so important. Discipline is the strongest form of self-love. It is ignoring current pleasures for bigger rewards to come. It's loving yourself enough to give yourself everything you've ever wanted.
Mirrors have always seemed like a watery breed to me.. But I suppose those ridges can also be equated to malnutrition.
