Thats a lot of retired stuff right there...
I thought they said they weren't going to introduce enough to flood the markets?

Not sure how I feel about all this, TBH.
Any one else arch a brow at this weeks rewards?

I think it's okey, it's like giving new users a chance to get some valuable things in smaller amounts that they weren't able to participate in getting.

The winners will either keep their prize (and not effect the market) or sell under or at lah price, not effecting the market because the cheap stuff will get snatched up quick.

There have been a few discussions on this, people going over the numbers etc and the results are in line with what the staff have said - effects on the economy will be negligible. Consider the tens of thousands of active users on the site.

Well, if there aren't fancy prizes, no one will buy tickets. I've been on the fence about Roundsey ever since she released but honestly she hasn't hurt anything but users' wallets and hope of winning.

I'm just wondering what's going to happen when they run out of retired things to raffle off...

pssst... dragons for sale here
I'm not worried about that, personally. They said they will make sure not to increase the amount of available retired items by even 1% -- if there are 10 shadow sprites in the raffle, that means there are at least 1000 sprites (most likely a good bit more). Adding 10 won't kill the demand or market for them.

If 1 million tickets are sold and we assume people buy an average of 100 tickets each, that's 10k users trying for just 10 sprites. Even if we say an average of 500 tickets, that's 2000 people competing for 10 sprites. And most people aren't buying anything near that many. (And I'm not sure how many people are active in a single day, but it's thousands, given the active users at any one time is around 2k+.)

I think if the prices dip for a week or two, they'll sort themselves out. There's been tons of fluctuation of retired stuff already for other reasons. I remember when the Archivists Spellscroll used to sell for 8-10kg and now it's been 3kg for quite a while. The prices of retired items don't always go up. Recolors in Joxar affect things, but also just having more apparel alternatives to the older expensive stuff.

The userbase is increasing daily, and older users will continue to leave or go inactive, taking more and more of the items out of circulation. This adds a tiny fraction back, which I think is a good thing. ^^

[/quote] Honestly. I can understand that people who supported and invested in the kickstarter items with real money are all angsty over the possibility of some of those items becoming roundsey prizes. However, I don't think that is going to happen. I don't think we'll be seeing a hornhelm as a prize, for example. I think it's just going to be sprites, apparel, etc. Which no one should have any problem with. Players who joined in 2013 and participated in the festivals to get the sprites, didn't pay real life money to get the sprites, they paid game currency. I think it's time to stop acting like elitists, and instead be happy that newer people who don't have the funds to buy sprites or retired apparel now have a chance at winning one of those items. It's just a game, and we should all chill.
