Why do you go after G1 dragons, even when their non-G1 counterparts are a lot more affordarble?
Is it because it's a bigger challenge to have a nice G1?
For lore reasons?
To compete with other collectors?
I'm sure everyone has their own reasons!
Personally, I am not after G1 dragons at all, I never hatched an egg and just sell them and I wouldn't pay more for a dragon because it's G1
But especially because of that, I am even more curious for other players' motivations to collect them!

for me it's lore reasons and the fact that they're a clean slate so i don't have to worry about getting non-g1s with a bunch of unnamed children. tho costly, worth it for me since i'll have a reason to keep playing

Pretty much all those reasons are ones I've seen before. I just like the gamble of hatching eggs and hoping for something good. And even if it's not perfect, I enjoy the challenge of making some pretty out of it!

They are rarer, and getting a good color combo feels more valuable than with a regular dragon.

uncluttered lineage, not related to any other dragons, the challenge of taking something not great and making it stunning because for some reason i hate my wallet, etc.
a lot of "regular" nest-hatched dergs look nice in my opinion, but it's too easy to just spend 10kT (or less) to pick them up off the AH. there's nothing special about them, and grabbing G1 projects instead makes for a nice goal to work toward. plus when a G1's complete, it's so satisfying, haha~

I don't buy g1's or eggs, but sometimes I'll hatch the eggs I find so I have a few g1's. I just think it's fun to see what colors and eye types you get and I like to try and gene them up into something good looking even if their colors are meh, I've kept all the gen1's I've hatched.
